Your attitude about criticism is so refreshing and positive. I've seen some pretty terrible takes lately that have amounted to being completely closed to critique (even from pretty experienced writers), and it's been heartening to have the contrast of someone who takes a more considered approach. Not all criticism is going to be the kind we will or should take to heart, but it's a real skill to be able to identify when the criticism is something we might need to address in our work. Not every book will be for every reviewer, of course, and sometimes it's a taste thing rather than an issue of something needing to change about the book, but when a reviewer is skilled and experienced and is pointing out more larger scale issues that you agree with and can sense the value in, taking their suggestions as ways to strengthen your craft is a great thing. Anyway, just wanted to say that, as I've seen a bit of the opposite attitude here and there. Esmay's review was excellent, and your response has been similarly excellent! I can't wait to read your book, as you know.
