Funny how just by adding an 'ist' to any word, the establishent can make it sound like a bad thing. What's wrong with plain old 'popular'?

"Populist" basically means "supported by the ordinary people" (otherwise, the people -- Latin "populus" -- would not vote for such politicians). Most people have common sense: that is why such policies are popular.
@Factoverfiction1-mk3rf

@@DieFlabbergast i believe the definition is a bit arbitrary in the political sense these days. As usually the establishment centre-left or centre-right parties never get called populist despite usually getting more votes from the public over a longer period of time. It’s weaponised by the establishment today and used as a unflattering negative label for insurgent parties, usually on the right of the political spectrum that threaten the establishment. Ironically it’s used in a way to try and make the party look more fringe and risky as if only nutters support it and it’s not as popular as what they’d want you to believe.

@MsJackrussell2
@MsJackrussell2 3 ай бұрын
Agree. It's akin to constantly using words like racist, transphobe etc. They are labels used by people who don't have answers to the hard questions that people like Zemmour raise. From what I've read about Zemmour, he takes a hard line on Islam and its incompatibility with French life. He also takes a dim view of LGBT and the way it's pushed in schools. Many people would not consider these to be far right views.

The Greek party Golden Dawn are pretty unsavoury and could be described as far right with a straight face. However, in the UK I would describe Antifa, The Socialist Workers Party, The Revolutionary Communist Party, Communist Party of Great Britain, Communist Party of Britain, Socialist Labour Party, Socialist Resistance, Workers Power and the Transform Party as far left. The Far right number in the dozens and have been in decline since the 70s. Anyone who honestly (any party with revolutionary in the name does not) engages with democracy and the ballot box is not and should not be described as Far anything. The number of silly children whose argument is destroyed by describing our current government as Far Right when in reality they are the least conservative government in our history and have spent 14 years carrying out Blairite policy.

Well said (asked) Net Zero is Eco-Suicide for us but an elite class, they still get to fly to meetings to discuss what us, the plebs give up next. If you want the real purpose of net-zero, look at C40 cities, which Khan is currently the chair of and what you are expected to sacrifice. Immigration is about Cheap Labour and inflated house prices from the perspective of the capitalist policy (top 20% where the wealth is going), vote rigging is the socialist policy and destruction of Nation, tradition and cohesion is the Globalist policy. People, like that well known globalist organization who people mistake for communists, but are the worst of capitalists. When you own nothing, who owns everything? They believe that because Islam is a globalist religion, its adherents will be more malleable than the indigenous population of Europe to their ideas.

Elitist thinking from the man who sold our gold reserves at the worst possible time to save the Euro. Carly Fiorina failed to get elected to the senate after spending $9.6 million of her own money. She believed that with that kind of spending of her own money, she deserved to win. That is the current attitude of the tech bro's and globalists. We are successful, therefore we deserve political power regardless of your democracy.
