Russian trainers Alexey Silde and Anna Firstova collaborated with WDSF in creating this learning resource on rhythms in dancing. The video was recorded in August 2012 during the GOC in Stuttgart, GER. The WDSF wishes to acknowledge the support of Alexey, Anna, their demonstrators Simeon and Vitalina, and the GOC organisers to the YouTraining DanceSport programme.

I think it's very good that they are explaining this so early to their students. I was dancing for years before anyone explained it to me...

I had an instructor try to explain this to me before, but it didn't penetrate my thick skull. Something penetrated this time though. This stuff is great. Thanks!

Ahhhh, yes another spoon full of theory, get those spoons out. Yes, exactly so simple yet a brilliant break down of how to teach timing. I do something very similar but using say in the cha cha I use '1&' for a whole beat instead of a qq for a whole beat, but really I like the use of q's better. Very good and Thank you

The problem with this for dancers that don't have natural rhythm is that they often look like they are counting. It makes their dancing look stiff. Great to learn it anyway.

With the Samba Timing stated in this video, how do you do Voltas? Instead of a1 a2 a3 a4, if you push the steps backward to arrive early, do you step &a(1), &a(2), &a(3), &a(4)?

Alexei is so good looking, I would be a bad student if I were in his class because I would be too focused on those lips lol

Это не совсем корректно! Носок стопы может коснуться пола только в начале длительности 1 и 2. На подготовке к переносу веса в тайминге ЭНД А должна использоваться только опорная стопа без начала переноса веса.
