One of the greatest drummers who ever lived, it's a shame she is only ever appreciated for her singing when that wasn't what she really loved as a musician.

Happy Birthday Richard Carpenter born on October 15, 1946. He is an American musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer, who formed half of the sibling duo the Carpenters alongside his younger sister Karen. Carpenter created the Richard Carpenter Trio in 1965 with sister Karen and friend Wes Jacobs. Richard played the piano, Karen played the drums, and Wes played the tuba and bass. - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Carpenter_(musician)

There was nothing here in Karen's voice to indicate what she would become. It was very ordinary. She had voice lessons to lower her voice bringing out her unique natural qualities. She did not like singing initially, not particularly liking it at all, being near forced to sing.

Karen Carpenter was an outstanding drummer🥁💙💙💙💙💙!! However, Karen Carpenter did learn to love singing and she loved it a lot😃😃!! In fact, Karen Carpenter said she loved the business of performing calling it," An exciting business"😃😃! It's just sad what Hollywood did and still does to many people with their body image🖤🖤😢😢 and it was equally sad about Karen Carpenter's personal private issues with her Mom preferring Richard to her. Nonetheless, d Karen Carpenter was a highly talented singer, even if she had lessons, you cannot make something from nothing so her talent was already there!!! And like I said before Karen Carpenter was an outstanding drummer and I will add she was also a humble down-to-earth kind person in spite of her Fame and Fortune very special person!!!!

@@wantingoneangel8976 My point is that the world ended up with a unique singing voice more by accident. For sure Karen was no child singing talent identified at a young age. The person with the best singing voice in the world may have walked past you in the street today - they just do not know or even tried.

@@johnburns4017 Like I said before you can't make something from nothing, so I think that Karen Carpenter💐💐 had this singing talent all along. It could be when she was younger she didn't understand her entire vocal range or it could be that her voice deepened that she got older, but either way this is brought out of her through lessons what was already there! For example, I cannot sing on key to save my life, singing lessons for me would be hopeless I have zero talent for singing. However, I don't think that Karen Carpenter💐💐 having a beautiful voice came by accident, I think it was there all along and it came by bringing it out through discovery a vocal range that either happened when she got older or deepened as she got older☮️😊!!!

@@wantingoneangel8976 If only for her brother wanting a drummer, she may have ended up at the Lockheed factory with her mother (and probably been happier) not even attempting to sing.
