When Karl is just rambling on, almost to the point where you wonder if he even knows what he's talking about, it helps to remember Karl's self observation about his thinking process..."I find that if you just keep your mouth talking, eventually you'll come up with something good"

that whole scenario with Karl as a woman, and being straight up with "Harry" cracks me up so much🤣 One thing Ricky does well Mandy, is he gets the best out of Karl!! so even if Steve and Ricky seem like being bastards, its all for the greater good 😉and sometimes i wish i could call karl a Moron, with some of the insane and stupid things he's said over the last 20yrs. sorry but its true As Ricky once said, he may take on the role of bully and Steve a mediator, but it works! and thats how its been gradually from the Xfm days.

You just made my day by saying you're planning to do the XFM radio shows. They're miles better than this, although you get a lot of UK chat which you might find boring because you won't know who, or what they're talking about. The first series, which is really just their first 'stint' on air together (in between filming The Office) is a bit slow to get going and might put you off, but it gets soooooooooo good. The audio quality improves slightly for each new "series" too. You get 'orginal Karl' which is the most adorable thing ever, and you get a LOT more of Steve. The very fact that the radio show was broadcast live every Saturday afternoon, makes everything so much funnier as they really pushed the boundaries as to what you can get away with on live radio. You also get all of Karls ludicrous games he invents for listener participation, and MANY more features (Karl even takes a part in classic movie scenes where he plays the part of one of the actors using edited audio). There are many more Suzanne stories too. The banter between the 3 of them is next level and probably the best thing about the XFM radio show. The arguments between Steve and Karl are absolutely hilarious, and then you have Ricky in the background, constantly stiring the pot. I can't wait for you to get it to it, Mandy. 🙂

You probably won't want to do the audio only original XFM material on here but I really do urge you to listen to it in your own time. It's so magnificent. Even if you have gone from the end backwards. I warn you now tho that a LOT of it isn't politically correct or for a woke audience. They all said a lot of things that aren't acceptable now. The HBO Ricky Gervais show was very much watered down and sanatized versions of the original content. Personally i find the original content way funnier as it wasn't retellings. It was raw and as it happened. Live and unedited.

Once again here to recommend you check out Top Gear and The Grand Tour, specifically the "Specials" episodes where they go traveling around the world getting up to British shenanigans. I think you'd honestly love it. If you like the humor and the show, I think it'd absolutely be worth the editing effort to get them on KZbin, you'd be literally the only person on KZbin I can find that have reacted to any of them. You'd get some hella views I feel. Top Gear in particular during its hey day in the 2000s and 2010s was one of the most watched shows around the world. There's a huge audience out there just waiting for somebody to react to them. Watching your entire Pilkington reaction, I really truly feel you'd love the Top Gear and Grand Tour specials, you'd be laughing your ass off, while getting that exploration feel that Pilkington had. Plus, awesome cars. Editing and Copyright wise, I think you'd be fine? There's literally dozens upon dozens of edits of Top Gear on the internet that have millions of views that are videos of nothing but clips from the show. Thats not even Fair Use at all from what I understand, yet those videos have remained up for years. There's also other reactors who have reacted to specific portions of Top Gear, but nobody has ever done an entire Special. And for specifics, I'd recommend the Botswana Special, the Vietnam Special, the Africa (Search for the Source of the Nile) Special, the Burma Special and the Patagonia Special. You'd love the Patagonia Special, half of it is in Argentina.

(The beginning) They need a library and museum that actually takes literally EVERYTHING in existence, from everywhere in the universe. It would be helpful to have even one central place anywhere in the world that has whatever we could have possible found or done in the universe. If no one did that yet, I wish I could be the one to found such place. At this point, "Make that a T-Shirt" should also be a T-Shirt. (The race) Usually most people do spectate at the start line, in anticipation of the race, and plus that's where all the runners are, and thus there's action, and so that's where most people expect to be or want to be. But I would want to be at the finish line, to see who wins. So, that would make the finish line more of the climax, despite there being no action at all, until the first runner gets there. Plus, once all the runners are away from the start line, there's nothing left for the start line, and it's like "now what?" So, even though I would be waiting for a while, put me at the finish line. "They won't go in a hole again." If that's a T-Shirt, I suspect it would make a lot of sales ....... ahem ahem ........ 😂 When we first heard of Suzanne saying "If you were dead, I'd be alright," it sounded offensive and mean toward Karl. Cause that's all we knew of the conversation. Now that we know the context, it's still sad the way she put it, but it doesn't sound as mean and offensive. Since we know what she meant now. But, good for Karl, cause in Suzanne saying that, it means Karl keeps up with the house like he should, as he's always alluding to in these episodes. Good for him for handling the house, like a good boyfriend / husband (or responsible adult) should. And while I'm at it, you too, Mandy, cause of all the work you put in at home, like Karl does. I just wish I could have seen the finish product of the roof of the old apartment. I do remember when you were updating us during the process. (The end) Karl does seem to be a straight to the point person. He's as straight to the point as it gets. I'm like Karl, to a degree, with that. A lady once told me that I like direct answers, and she's right. And then she explained that it's not always possible to just give a direct answer, which I already knew. But, just give it to me as direct as possible. Don't drag it along and take detours to get there. If you have to add context or something, I'm fine with that. But Karl is too straight forward and direct. Sometimes I'm like "Come on, Karl!"

The fella whose skull's fell out is a good example of the podcast version being better than the edit for the cartoon.. in the podcast Steve then finds the bit in the diary that mentions it and reads it out and it's amazing 💀 ..and yeah the XFM shows came first - they were on the radio! A shoddy station from 1pm to 3pm of a Saturday! Most of us love them the most, but you'll have to use your imagination for the visuals. It starts off fairly normal and then Ricky and Steve start to realise just how bizarre Karl is and the focus switches to talking to Karl to see what he'll say 😂 Season 1 is Karl, Ricky and Steve. There's also a season 0, but that's just Ricky and Steve from about 1998 and Karl hasn't come into the picture yet. Ricky and Steve went off to do The Office, then when they came back to the radio didn't want to press the buttons themselves so got a little manc round headed producer to do it for them.. There were also some one off radio shows like some Christmas shows for BBC Radio 2. None of the XFM radio stuff was used in the cartoon, so it'll all be fresh for you. You'll have heard most of the stuff from the podcast, but they're extended with little competitions and like the thing I mentioned above there are bits that were cut out for the cartoon

A lot of people say that about past authors, that we only know them because it was the past. But there were other playwrights contemporary with Shakespeare that no one has heard of. But it is true that it was considered low culture in its time, and is full of dirty jokes, but has been recontextualised as high culture after the fact.

It's a shame that this journey is nearing the end, but as you said you do have hours and hours of Karl content to go. The XFM stuff is both a radio show and a podcast really. Podcast in the form of having the music cut from the radio show. I'm not sure how much of it is suitable for broadcast for you in this format but there should be plenty of content left for you to enjoy in your own time. Karl always stays "in character" in these shows. He's not the star and that's not his name on the banner. Traditionally he's the producer. If the talent (Ricky or Steve) starts riffing on something he says he stays quiet and lets them work their magic. He might have been able to get his point across a lot more in these shows and seem like he's less of a buffoon if he actually interrupted either of them. But he doesn't and I think the show is better for it.

You have to understand that Ricky and Steve do know what Karl is talking about but just ignore it, make fun of it or just don’t respond because it would be redundant to do so. As an example, they do understand the book analogy but it is so flawed and nonsensical that it is not worth discussing.
