Freddie. The bonny is fully saveable. I can tell you from just hearing it in the video there is nothing majorly wrong with it.. we would be happy to have a look over it for you! My dad has been building and working on bikes for the last 50yrs and me for the last 25yrs. Weve bought many bikes back to life the should have gone to the scrap yard..

I think collaborating with another channel for a potential repair is a great idea. Repair channels make for compelling viewing and it will be more of the story in the life of your beloved Bonneville.

Freddie,I've got a friend who owns a BMW R1100. He came out one morning to find that the bike wouldn't start. After several hours of fiddling with it, he gave up and took it to a BMW specialist. The mechanic there said that the bike wasn't worth fixing and it would be better to part it out, even though it only had 11000 on the clock. Not wanting to dispose of the bike he decided to start replacing the electric system piece by piece. He started with the CPU, (only second hand parts were used to keep the costs down). Suddenly he had power again but the bike still wouldn't start. He then replaced the starter relay and the bike started and now runs fine. The cost of the parts in total was approximately £300. Breaking the bike would have lost him way more than the price of the parts. Most electrical parts are plug and play so it's just a matter of working through them one part at a time. Hope this helps.

Hey Freddie I've also met Joe from the wurx, we were on a bike c amping weekend ride out together, he has an amazing 865 bonneville scrambler that he has built, if you haven't seen it it's very cool. If anyone is offering to rebuild the bonnevillr then he's your man.

I’m not convinced that the mechanic to took the bike too was giving the best advice, if it is an electrical problem then the bonnerville isn’t a complicated bike, battery, stator, reg/rec maybe ecu remap if not fuelling correctly too good to scrap the offer from the wurks guy seems like a good offer.

How do you do it Monika...? Even just to take off a couple things from the Bonnie, you manage to find the most appropiate piece of music, that captures and amplifies the whole situation of the dismal Bonnie story. It almost had me crying. You are a master at capturing and painting a scene with your pictures and the music you use, as well as being a BIG part of the success of this channel.. I salute you!

Mate, I wrote my bike off when I was a nipper (1985 GSXR400) and spent a month rebuilding it with the help of a mechanic mate of mine. I got the bike running perfectly and learned a shitload about mechanics and how the bike worked. Thank God I did, it made me a better biker and taught me a lot. Keep the Bonnie at least as a second bike, surely you can film a full rebuild and turn it into part of your KZbin business. It'd also be fantastic publicity for whatever mechanic helped you through the learning journey.

Don't give up it's a bonneville just needs a little love and care.

Freddie, I’d let Joe have the bike. If nothing else, it’ll make good KZbin content for his channel, but I suspect he’ll get it running and it deserves to be running!

Honestly I'd walk over to the tool shop across from your flat buy a multimeter for £12 attach it to the battery & see how the charging system is working & if it's charging properly fill the tank & take it for a long ride(time wise) close to the flat

I think it’s beginning to dry out , so much for the triumph specialist ,he’d have had you buying another engine , play it by ear mate let this other guy have it for awhile I feel sure he knows what he’s doing hope. Engine sounds pretty good to me when you got to the lock up. So very little wrong with the engine , I still feel sure it needs to fully dry out , pleased you got home safely, Graham

I mentioned in a previous video the solenoid was the main starting issue from when you used to jump it to start the bike and that was a while back. Jumping it and the bike starting fine usually means a bad solenoid, which is easy to replace and pretty cheap to do yourself but constantly jumping it can cause problems from wrecking the starter motor or to the contacts on the solenoid fusing together which would probably cause the bike to start when you just turn the key on. Anyway Freddie I'd just give it to the guy who offered to sort it out for his channel, it will probably come back like new. All the best.

I so much hope you can get the Bonnie healthy again! Look out for a new primary bike and keep the Bonnie as a second one, she’s absolutely worth it 😀

The bike looks worth saving, its not smoking or burning oil, New battery may be all it needs now the starting solenoid has been replaced. Side stand switch is well known for playing up especially if its been in a flood. My own Bonneville would sometimes start and then die, new Ignitor unit was the issue, they are renowned for failing.

That old building transformed into a nice café is kind of a poetic reminder of the Bonneville. Making a gem out of an old pal. Worth it? It seems like a nice project.

Fredddie do keep the Bonneville. There is potential for you to get some interesting and informative broadcasting for the Channel from this challenge. Whether it be through your own attempt or a joint enterprise. Either way the sense of achievement of identifying and fixing the issue will be so rewarding. Good luck chum we are all eagerly awaiting the outcome. Dave K. 👍

Hi Freddie and Monica. Chris Sherrington really does know his stuff. Yes, he's ex Royal Marines. If he says that he can get your Bonnie right, then he will. He's about to put a big bore and high performance cams on my 2010 Scrambler. Exciting. Highly likely to be electrical and with a further period of drying out, new battery, oil and change of filters may be fine. It's not even smoking! It would be such a shame to write off your Bonnie. After all, it has a fan base now! Best wishes

Monica has gone and done it Freddie - The Bonnie loves you 🥰 You have no choice but to keep her - that's the Bonnie (and Monika of course)
