@@akantiia Yes, it worked out well after Iep-Yvonne saw the terrible stress on both and reunited them the day after the attempted weaning. Yvonne knows what she's doing; she's flexible, too

The problem with weaning late, is the risk of injury. Our neighbor's filly lost an eye when she was kicked by the mare when she tried to nurse. The filly was over six months old. Injuries inflicted by nursing mares happen more frequently than you might think. I always tried to wean my foals at around 5 months. When people say 'well, they stay with each other in the wild'... yes, they do. Wild horses also have MANY disease causing parasites, untreated injuries, and suffer from hunger and vitamin deficiencies. They also hurt and kill each other on a regular basis. The pictures you see of them at a distance are beautiful. Up close, they are un-kempt with multiple scars, some with open wounds, and you can actually see the ticks and lice crawling on them. Pink eye and blindness are common in wild herds. We had a wild band down by the Cheyenne river in the late 60's when I was just a kid. A few lucky yearlings would be taken for domestication every year. Wild horses are romanticized...the reality is cruel and anything but pretty. As a child I cried myself to sleep many nights worrying about the wild band. Trust me when I tell you that wild horses are not the lucky ones. The horses in domestic care are. Our responsibilities as humans are to be kind and to take care of our animal friends and see to it that they are kept healthy and safe. Treating our horses as if they were 'in the wild' is irresponsible. Yvonne knows her horses better than any of us do. She felt that late weaning in the case of RS was warranted here, and sometimes it is, but most of the time it is not. I have spent over 50 years raising and breeding AQHA horses, and I cringe when I see comments criticizing these weaning, breeding, stabling and training practices. These owners know what they are doing. Weaning is conducted on a case-by-case basis according to the health and disposition of the mare and foal. Doing it any other way is irresponsible, and I will not argue the point. There are quite a few horse owners who follow here, and the majority of us have given up trying to help explain these things to people in these comment sections because we have been met with hostility and downright rudeness. This stable that Rein has, is very well run with care that exceeds almost every one I have seen. People can learn a lot by watching Yvonne and this crew. Please THINK before criticizing them, and maybe just try being nice. It costs nothing.

There is such intense concern for him among Rising Star's followers, but many of us have said we have never actually owned a horse, let alone worked at or owned a breeding stable! We enjoy learning about the horses here, but criticisms expressed harshly are not welcome. I tend to skip over them. I visit this stable because of the peacefulness and gentleness -- and knowledge based on experience. Like yours.

Black Panther was what we call a ‘Tuxedo Cat’. They are known for being very sweet and loving cats. So sad and sorry she is gone. I had one named Jenna for 16 years until this past June.

Oh my gosh Black Panther on Reintje’s back just hanging out was everything and Reintje’s such a good girl totally relaxed with her friend Friesian’s truly are such gems I hope someday to be able to have one of my own. It's a special feeling to have the trust of any animal - there's a real bond in these cases . I used to keep a hen in my horse's stall - she often rode about on my mare's back like BP was there but usually left a mess to clean off too . Poor kitty RIP

Yvonne, that was such a wonderful video, and also sad! Black Beauty’s getting hit by a car made me cry, and then seeing Rising Star lay down with his head in your lap was just precious. Uniek will put an end to nursing! But Uniek and Risey chose each other and that bond will be for life. But Rising Star is definitely your horse!! She was amazing and beautiful and wonderful. And the way she was with the horses was fantastic. I never met her and she wasn’t mine but I miss her too. I adore cats. I also adore horses but I haven’t had any in decades. I also adore dogs but I lost mine two years ago. My life changed drastically a few decades ago and I could no longer have horses in my life but the love never goes away. My health change drastically 10 years ago and when I lost my dog I could not get another. But I still have two cats. I used to have more cats but just recently lost one, six months ago, to old age. But I don’t know what I would do if I had a life without animals. I have always loved and appreciated them tremendously now as my life has narrowed further and further I appreciate them even more. There is always loss, sometimes it’s an accident & sometimes it’s the way of life but it’s always beyond our control & painful. It is a testament to love that we & they have a reservoir that is always full. There are never too many & especially with pets because they have no malice the love is unconditional. And because we’re human we can love never having met so in my own much smaller way I miss her too.

Black Panther just returned to his other dimension. I saw my first kitty who had passed over, walking around the living room and my current cat saw him, too. His spirit body was translucent, creeping along, telling us he was okay and just checking in on us. 😍

Aw, Black Panther was so cute riding beautiful Reintje. She certainly had a dream life at Stal G. My girlfriend's horse had a pet chicken. She would find the chicken sitting on her horse's butt when she went into the barn in the morning. Risey resting his head in your lap is just to die for. It doesn't get any sweeter.

Aww, this definitely shows how loving and sweet natured Reintje is 😍😍. She seems to like the feeling of a warm, furry body purring on her back - I bet the feeling of Black Panther kneading on her back feels a bit like a massage for her 😍😂😍😂! Black Panther was definitely a cute kitten 😍😍. She looks a lot like out tuxedo boy, Charlie, and definitely seems to have his cuddly temperament, and loud purr 😍😍😍. Black Panther reminds me of a family cat from my childhood. He had the same coloring and was named Fearless. He didn't come home one day and probably either had the same fate or was adopted by another family. He liked to go visiting!

We had a very friendly hen who I trained to jump up on my arm for pets, and she decided that meant she could jump up onto everyone that she liked. Turns out, she liked one of our horses, and the mare liked her back! We'd come out and see Krumpet all fluffed out and enjoying the sun on Jet's back.
