hey man just catching up on ur past videos and what i love about this one and pretty much all ur videos is that u break it down in the most simplest way for ur viewers, I'm a middle aged man just getting back into fishing and when i was a kid it was just spinner reels so this gear ratio with baitcasters is new to me but with ur knowledge and input its helped me out a lot.....once again thank you so much for sharing

Thanks for the advice, I just bought a Curado with a 5.0:1 gear ratio. I was a little nervous that I made the right decision that the gear ratio was too slow. But you made perfect sense with trying to keep the spinner baits and crank baits at a low speed. I am struggling to catch anything on a spinner bait. And I've been trying to keep it slow with the higher speed ratio. Thanks again. This video cleared my mind

These videos are amazingly informative! I'm an avid Walleye fisherman, but I've recently enjoyed targeting bass. It's a much different style of fishing. Going from trolling deep water and buck tail jigs to learning this side of it has really helped immensely!! Thank you so much for posting!! I'm learning a whole new style of fishing! P.S. The add ons for the trolling motor video has made a pretty big difference with my Minn kota!

Great video Man, straight forward and on point... And gotta say thanks for Your, videos on fishing line when I seen you talking about Seaguar inviz X 100%fluorocarbon, I was like yeah if I'm gonna try fluorocarbon for the first time, that's the one... Just a few days ago I finally spooled my real up with 20 pound test and as far as I'm concerned that's the best line on earth! Never lost sight of my line in the sun, and that's important to me because I'm a line watcher, as soon as that line entered the water man it was like super stealth mode, totally invisible. Silky Smooth, cast a mile, super tough, ultra low memory and not a single bck lash.

@TackleJunky81

You can use a 7 speed, but the faster the reel, the less power you have. Also, you need to be aware of just how fast the reel is as you may work your baits too fast.

Good explanation. One thing to note is a bigger handle will make a big difference in the leverage you have. I use a 7.1:1 Revo Beast for flipping and frogs. It's got an oversized handle, and it has the speed of a high speed reel and the torque of a lower speed.

A low speed reel can be spun at the handle faster, to make up for it lower retrieve speed, but a high speed reel can't make up it's lack of torque (pulling power) by winding the handle slower. Physics. Cheers

The best gear ratio is a 7 speed never go below this here is why when you fish a crankbaits you’re fishing it deep catching a fish at such a deep depth then having to reel it in on a 5 speed or 6 is just so slow and risk losing the fish
