The Right Hand Rule - Structural Geology

Strike direction is a pair..strikeline is a line and a line has two ends..so two direction pairs form A-line....good video sir...though mentioning only one directions seems easy to plot in practical purposes

What am I missing here. Dip angel is measured down from the horizontal. Isn't the dip angle in the drawing wrong?

You are right that dip is measured down from the horizontal, but if you take the drawing he made, and put a horizontal near the top of the "rock", then label the dip angle theta, you can see that *if* the "bottom" of the rock that he drew is also a horizontal, using right triangles to solve for all of the angles, and the two angles will be identical (35 degrees).

Why not just take a reading from your compass and use the value below 180° ?

I've seen it done like that, too. It doesn't matter too much since even with one direction stated alone, the other one 180 degrees from it is implied.
