I wanna see more Jeff Lasala. I liked his take on things

I'd quite like to try to get Jeff on for a 1:1, to talk about something else in the future!

“matt nerd of the rings” didn’t add a single intelligent thought to this discussion while also being the one who talks the most, I guess that is the perfect commentary on our society and youtube. Lol I’m not familiar with all these tolkien channels so I hope he’s better on his channel, but I guess I’ll stick to voice of geekdom and in deep geek.

Isn't Galadriel (in the show) more closely following the path of Sauron (from the books)? If I remember correctly, Sauron had an opportunity to repent and come back to Valar but he chose not to. Galadriel jumped out of the boat and chose not to go to the undying lands. Galadriel so far, has had one emotion, rage. Sauron is depicted as a burning eye. Galadriel convinces Numenor to go to war so that she can get revenge. Sauron convinces Numenor to go to war so that he can get revenge. If I didn't know the name Galadriel from the books, I wouldn't think that she is a heroic character. And just going by what we have seen in the series so far, if I didn't know the name Sauron from the books, I wouldn't have much reason to think he is worth travelling to the ends of the earth to kill.

I'm having an issue with lots of buffering on this video. Other videos seem fine so I don't think it's my internet connection.

I don’t understand how anyone can believe that Rowan was Halbrand when he wa a younger. Rowan is dead, along with everyone, or almost everyone, who left the tower of Ostirith.

It was probably the episode I was most disappointed in, from an adaptation point of view.

I'm with Varking re Gil-Galad. He's playing his own game against what he suspects is a deception. I'm not even convinced he believed Durin about the table. Also, a question. When Adar is exposing the orc's arm to the sun, he says it will soon be gone and "with it, the part of me that knew its warmth as well." Which seems like more than saying "I too will be living in shadow". So does this tie in to Adar not being a god yet?

This show is not Tolkien. You should stand up for Tolkien. You will be known for not. Tolkien deserves better. Do the right thing.

Sorry, but this is a badly written show that will be forgotten as soon as it finishes.

I don’t know why the attitudes of these proto/pre-hobbits surprise people. For me that was always what was hiding bellow the surface. Hobbits lived in idyllic conditions, safe, protected, barely any outsiders, unknown to the outside world and yet ready to turn on any hobbit who was different, or turn on each other should any danger or stranger appear despite living a perfect life. They are basically small town people, self righteous and judgmental, a bit backward, criticizing “big cities” without setting foot there, blaming everything on immigrants/outsiders and immigrant “lovers” despite never seeing any. Hobbits would be anti globalization, say things like “internet and video games rots the mind of young people”, vote for brexit and trump. They would be arguing that we shouldn’t support Ukraine just because their heating bills went up. They are like the Swedish people that last week voted for a far right party with neo nazi roots just because of inflation and immigrants despite living in one of the wealthiest societies in the history of humanity. Hobbits would support Sauron if only he cared enough (or knew they existed) to tell them he would do away with all the things they didn’t like, like those strange elves and humans. Bilbo and Frodo were exceptions not the rule. So leaving their own behind because of a twisted ankle seems completely in character for these pre-hobbits.
