I know I'm going to get slammed for saying so and it'll definitely fall on deaf ears, but I think it's important to say it anyway for anyone else who actually likes the show and fears speaking out in an atmosphere like this: I know quite a few people that got excited to see this, myself included. I respect your opinion that it's hot garbage, but I for one quite liked the first season and I'm looking forward to season 2. I thought it looked gorgeous, and considering the Tolkien estate really tied their hands with the story possiblities, I think they did a great job. I'm a little unsure about how I feel about the diversity stuff, because it does go a little against the world building, but otherwise I'm fine with it. I certainly found it 1000x more interesting and engaging than House of the Dragon, which was just a whole season of family squabbles where all the characters look and sound the same, but for some reason that seems to get a lot more praise? Ah well. To each their own!

I appreciate your response. That’s fair and a better tone than I have in the video. I very much disagree with your perspective, but I respect what you’ve commented.

And of course, I don’t think anyone should be afraid to express their opinion - that’s why I have this channel! And that’s why I made this movie. This video is one of the most disliked on my channel, because I’m passionate about seeing Tolkien actually respected. He has the greatest work of fiction, and it seems like Amazon made a grab for it to achieve their own agendas rather than respect Tolkiens work and give the fans the stories they actually loved in the world they’ve come to know.

Most of the people Who deeply "hate" ROP are far-righters. They considered Tolkien as something that belongs to them, it's something related with their cultural wars. Those are the ones who are intoxicating everything. For Amazon is good that everybody is talking about ROP while It has millóns of viewes. If they didn't earn a single cent they would have stopped doing this, I mean, Bezos is earning monie anyway.

Deceived by looks much? Also, I don’t “get to” anything. I’m not praising Amazon for blessing me on high with a third-rate tv show of a first-rate story/book.

I don't think I'm being deceived. I said it's gorgeous, and it is. And it's always been tricky adapting book content to the screen. I think what they've put together is pretty wonderful, especially when compared against all of the other big budget LOTR tv series that have been produced. Oh, wait...that's right. There are none! 3rd rate series? Not a chance--by any definition--would RoP be considered 3rd rate.

Speak for yourself man a lot of people loved this show. It doesn't tear down the things you love, you can just not watch it. I don't like the realistic Disney adaptations but they could never take away from the originals that I do love.

You’re entitled to your opinion, but I think it’s objectively demonstrable that the first season did do that, and it’s very likely based on this trailer that the second season is going to do the same. They didn’t portray the world of The Silmarillion, but chose to make it mesh with their motives. That’s disgraceful. If you want to make a story set in a fictional world like this, fine. But don’t buy the brand title of Lord of the Rings and use that for your show if it’s not faithful or respectful of the material.

I agree completely. I’ll take Tolkein’s authentic Roman Catholic worldview over a commandeered shoehorning of his world to fit some lame modernist narrative any day.

Just don’t watch it. Stop gatekeeping. I am looking forward to seeing different creators and storytelling of great stories. If that is the hill you want to die on, then everyone is copying Shakespeare and needs to stop.
@standingbeforegod17 күн бұрын
Oh, I won’t watch it. I would be so happy to see good *characters* (I don’t care about who’s creating it “creators”) and seeing good stories/plots. I will not like this just because they paid 1 billion dollars to label it with the “Lord of the Rings” brand. Shakespeare is meant to be preformed as Shakespeare intended. Tolkien’s work, if you are going to name your show after it, is to be respected and made in the best possible way.

the african elf with his modern football's player haircut is the worst, and the african dwarf queen. They could have been perfect choice in in the human race, but no, better put them in the races that has never been described as african, not by Tolkien or in any northern european myths

Exactly! Just stick to Tolkien’s work and don’t put in your own stuff. Simple. But Amazon didn’t want a return on their investment I guess 🤷♂️
