Interesting topic. These remind me of 1960s and 70s budget label records, which I am a fan of. The budget labels had a shady business model or ran scams as well. Repackaging and renaming old recordings and reselling them to the public over and over again as new ones. Creating fictitious artist names and recording anonymous or uncredited music. Creating new song titles for familiar or previously released recordings. Somehow this was all accepted by the industry, the parent labels and the record buying public. And there is some great music hidden away on those sometimes.

Litte Richard did a throw-away album in the early 1970s... he recorded it in one day... the small record label gave him $10,000 to do it... he needed 💰 for a tour (he made his living on the road at this time playing his hits...). The album was not a tax write-off per se... but an example of how record labels at the time used once big names to get an album for cheap... en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Right_Now!_(Little_Richard_album)
