At 3:22 you mentioned "A rookie error"- I remember this event whenever it aired...It was really a rookie error because (if I recall correctly), this was a local rule at Whistling Straits. This was a shock for MANY watchers at the time. Many golfers were calling the rule on themselves. It's just that Dustin Johnson's enforcement was really televised and the most unfortunate.

@flash5212 ай бұрын
@@BirdieBiographies That my friend is a very good question. When studying sensational sport figures they all have their peaks. They don’t equally last. Golf greats like Jordan Speith, or Rory, or Camron, or add plenty to the list, looked like they would dominate for years and then it just doesn’t happen, they suddenly ebb. Someone else rises, but more often the previous dominant just can’t keep playing at such a sustained high performance. Tiger Woods is incredible for his sustained performance FOR YEARS and then the ability to comeback, but he could not keep momentum. Yet he is capable of hitting great shots. In his case, he has physical challenges. So, it can be age and injury. Injury can occur because of too MUCH play. But that doesn’t explain the young Jordans, Rorys, Jason Day, Camrons, on and on. It is likely more staying at a mental peak and skill peak simultaneously can’t be done; especially week, after week, after week. That likely varies with each player. For myself - LOL - I once took two years off from ⛳️ golf. Then my brother came out to play golf, with me. I did,Okay and the next week I won our faculty tournament (a field of just over 60). Only tournament I have ever won in golf and it was after a sustained break from the game. Then again, I wasn’t playing anything close PGA, but some players who competed played all the time. Sports is both an inward and outward game that leaves us wondering and fascinated about developing and sustaining peak performance.

@@BirdieBiographies He is currently Tied 15th at the '24 Open, and even ESPN joked "you might not even know he is playing because they haven't showed DJ even once". I don't care if anyone likes him or not, but they showed shots (bad ones) from Tiger, Dechambeau, McIlroy, Hovland, you name it - none of those guys made the cut... and I agree with the ESPN guy, they haven't shown DJ even ONCE, and I've watched the entire replays. Several years ago, the PGA officials decided they didn't like Vijay Singh, and - even though he was tied for 3rd at the John Deer Classic - they never showed a single shot. In fact, he was playing with Jim Furyk, who was two shots behind him, and they showed Furyk missing a birdie putt - and Vijay was in the background (Vijay made his birdie), and they never even mentioned him, or showed his putt. They decide who you get to watch! This video is pure negative propaganda - exemplified by the ridiculous "the virus has spread" music!

What a stupid video! He grounded his club 2010 not knowing that it's a bunker - and yeah, it's extremely difficult to decide on this case! Look for example at Pinehurst, this course is is full of natural sand! And the 2010 pga championship isn't won by Rory Mcilroy, it's won by Martin Kaymer! Dustin Johnson is a fantastic player with ups and downs in his career. Andy it's better loosing a tournament with a round of 82 than with missing puts from 3 feet.... Johnson maybe misses a cut with 80s rounds, but two weeks later he wins the masters. And so there is no blame for him, he is one of the best!

Who payed this video? Jay monahan from the PGA? LIV golf is a tough event with most of the best players of the world. Winning a LIV event is extremely difficulty against competitors like Bryson, Cam Smith, Hatton or John Rahm. If 14 LIV players start in a major then 10 makeup they cut - that's 2/3 of them! On the other side the PGA players struggle and less than 40% make the cut.... Then truth is thats players from LIV or Europe are better at the end than the PGA tour players in total. Cheers
