the "i am the mountain that people need to climb" quote really made me dislike him as a character. Soon after season one people climbed this so called mountain. And there were a lot of talented people, with better attitudes and were more entertaining to watch. Also i find it weird that this video is about "the best rocket league player ever" and people like GarettG, Kaydop, Scrub and Fairy peak are not even mentioned. Garett won every a title every year he attended except one where he placed 2nd place. The others i mentioned achieved much more on the highest level than Kronovi ever did. So in my honest opinion Kronovi is not even close to being the best RL player of all time. Even in season 2 there were some far greater than him

To Kronovi's defence, no other esport is as unforgiving as this one. Top pro players last no more than two or three seasons in this game. It's much different compared to many other esports were there's 27-28 yo players still dominating after years of them playing.
@LasseLundster
@LasseLundster Жыл бұрын
Which is what makes Squishy the GOAT for me, nobody else has been that relevant. I think the skill ceiling always raises in every game. The absolutely best e-sports players in their genre, Faker, Viper and Flash/Jaedong etc would at their peak lose in direct comparison to the best current players, but that doesn't damper their absolute dominating rule of their time.
@davidebic
@davidebic Жыл бұрын
@@LasseLundster Then Kronovi would be the strongest Rocket League player to have ever existed. As the video said, at the start of Rocket League as an esport Kronovi could solo carry teams to victories in major competitions. No other RL player has achieved that ever since. Still, Squishy is definetly one of the most dominant RL players as he managed to win the world championship twice.
@LasseLundster
@LasseLundster Жыл бұрын
@@davidebic I agree, but including overall span of competetive career and the state of competition as factors beyond only level of reign, as Kronovi was a battle car pro at release in a young scene. I think a strong case can be made for both as overall bonjwa, and it's just my personal opinion that overall factors outweigh peak skill level gap from you to the scene, especially considering the above, weighs slightly less. But I wouldn't be surprised if Kronovi was declared the GOAT, either, and support either opinion.

This is kind of wrong, because in RLCS 1, Kronovi's team was actually considered to be an underdog. At this point Kuxir's Team Flipsid3 Tactics was considered to be the best team in the world, and Kuxir the best player. The video is really good, but it feels like it's overly portraying Kronovi as the undisputed best, when him and Kuxir were always very much equals. You can make an argument for Kronovi being the best, but not while leaving Kux out of the picture like this.

Kronovi discovered what I would say is the mathematical equivalent to multiplication or division, now a days the game has evolved into complicated calculus. The game has "changed" so much while none at all, I am amazed at the way the players have made so much progress over the years making new mechanics, in-game tactics, etc.

I got goosebumps from viewing kronovi and overzero's "air drag"s at the season 1 That was a pretty difficult skill, I remember that Paschy used to do it, then Squishy released a video (now deleted) saying that it was not Paschy's shot, but should be called squishy drag (something like that) That goal from kronovi was unbelievable at the time

Love the content. I began playing in like June or July 2015. Kronovi was definitely the undisputed king then. By July 2016, it was a battle between him, Marky, Kux, and Paaschy. You noted this well most of his rivals have long retired. A garden variety GC 1 is better than the best back then. That Mount Kronovi is relevant is pretty amazing.
@fatoeki
@fatoeki 2 жыл бұрын
I began around the same time. Yes Kronovi was the best back then, but for a long time I saw Kux as the best and I thought this video might be about him to be honest. Where Kronovi dit a lot in the beginning, Kux got to the top when the competition was a lot more on fire and watching him felt like watching a wizard with a lot of tricks up his sleeve and a reaction time that didn't seem possible. Still, in terms of popularity and his early rise I understand he gave Kronovi the title.

EXCELLENT premise and delivery of content in this video. I would have loved to hear from Kronovi about what he believes led to that decline. Was he not practicing enough? Were there challenging life circumstances at that point in his life? Was he just simply being outplayed for no reason at all? I think a short interview with him would have been very enlightening for all of us (an interview I'm assuming you tried to obtain). After seeing this video he may be more motivated to give his side of the story and what he believes led to his fall from the top. I would love to hear from him concerning this particular topic.

Some people really don't understand the weight of that first RLCS win for iBP. Back in the earliest days, the original positioning strategy actually used to be to have one player stay in net and defend the whole game while the other two went up on offense the whole game. Flipsid3, the team iBP beat to win was literally the first team to ever establish the concept of rotating. Not only were they a stacked team with 3 players who all could have made a case for best in the world at the time, but they also had an advantage over all the other teams because they were the original creators of rotations and had been doing it for longer than all the other teams had. Meanwhile, Kronovi's team struggled during the 2nd qualifier largely because of their 3rd teammate, Gambit dropping out. They went from having one of the best players in NA as their 3rd to being forced to play with a sub no one had heard of. It was truly a massive upset to see them go all the way and beat Flipsid3 two times.
@ReaperOnRepo
@ReaperOnRepo 2 жыл бұрын
They didn't create rotating. They simply thought of the concept before anyone else did. I don't understand how people don't grasp this? Literally, if you just let time pass, the mechanic would have most certainly been thought of by someone else. With such a large player base for a game, eventually optimal mechanics make their way to the top. People can't "create" mechanics in a game that they didn't code. They're the ones playing the games. They're the ones finding out what the game engine can do. They didn't create anything though. It was just under their noses until they came across it.
@JG124_
@JG124_ 2 жыл бұрын
@@ReaperOnRepo That's besides the point. My point is, they were doing it before anyone else. They had been utilizing the rotation strategy before anyone else so they were better at it than anyone else. They knew each others positioning style better. And all 3 of their players were probably top 5. Flipsid3 during those first 2 seasons was scary good.
