Steve Logan is a legend here. look at those schedules ECU played in the 90s. beating miami ×2, WVU×2, VT,ncsu, syracuse (when that still meant something) etc.

Yea this is kinda of wild, 1 min in and I’m already looking at the credibility. Maybe in the big picture nationally he wasn’t a success, but for ECU as a whole, a legend

Agreed. Logan beat Big Name teams year in and year out. Always struggled with Southern Miss, and a couple of bowl losses to TCU and Marshall hurt. Not many remember the Bowl victory over Texas Tech. Logans stay was successful.

NC State fan here. CFB is better when ECU is good. Except when they beat us 😂. Hanging 70 on UNC is cool though

Good to see a state fan who actually throws respect our way. So used to getting the same arrogance you guys get from UNC. A few seasons back as much as it hurt we played a spectacular game, fun watch. Cheers to many more in the future.

I love starting as ECU their coach has program builder unlocked already somehow lol not sure if he was an assistant somewhere like bama or Clemson but you need 5 playoff wins to get it and I know ECU ain’t made the playoffs😂

What’s even crazier that 2015 season that ruff got fired we lost to BYU by a touchdown and Florida by a touchdown along with numerous other one score games with a brand new offensive coordinator and 3rd string QB.

Last game I saw in person was before Covid. My wife (an alumni ‘08) and I went in October 2018 to see them play UCF. They were getting murdered so we left during the end of the third so we could get on the road back to Raleigh. My dad (also an alumni ‘81 undergrad and ‘94 masters) Luke take me and my sister to games back in the early ‘90s and it’s crazy how much the area around the stadium has changed. We used to tailgate in a dirt parking lot near Dowdy Ficklen and now its homes and more homes.

In my freshman year at ECU(83-84), they went 8-3, losing only Florida, Florida State, and Miami (the eventual National Champions). Also the Miami game was lost on a broken up game winning pass in the endzone. They were independent at the time so no bowl game! It was Ed Emory’s last year as coach and the team was dubbed the “Emory Express- When you absolutely positively have to score on Saturday night “

As an ECU alum, I do pray for prominence in football again. I know we’ve seen some terrible leadership through the years, but still holding on. The school overall has seen some hard times, but we got through them, still are in some ways. I know the love for this program and school are alive, in my experience, it’s the kind of place where people can have a second chance. It does take plenty of work and great leadership, but my God it’s worth it.

I do think East Carolina can make a bowl game this year. Their schedule isn't all that difficult save the gauntlet from week 3 to week 5. App State, Liberty, and UTSA respectively. And those three teams will more than likely have a strong case to be in the CFP come the end of the season. With that said, the Pirates get two of those games at home. App State and UTSA. So if ECU preform better than expected. There's a chance they could swipe one of those two games.

Thanks for Video,but Logan was a huge part of building the Pirate brand.He beat Miami twice as well as other so-called bigger football schools.He help put ECU on the map. Definitely not a disappointment..

Firing Ruffin McNeill inexplicably set the program back for years. Compher was an absolute idiot. Also loved the Holtz era and the stout defensive lines, but good lord did I get tired of seeing 40% of our offense being bubble screens to Dwayne Harris.

This video is very accurate. Loved Ruff as a man, but the offensive mind was really Lincoln Riley. The 2023 was an unexpected disappointment. Coach Houston will have to have a much better season this year in order to keep his job. The bigger question is what is going to happen to mid majors and even teams like VT, UVA, etc.., who cannot compete with the NIL flowing into college football. Will there be different divisions? Look at how much NIL money SMU has collected. They are buying a top five position. This is not a criticism. I just am curious where this ends up.

I grew up in southern Virginia and knew a couple of people with ECU ties (Greenville is about six hours from my hometown). They've historically had great attendance and loyal fans down there, so it's surprising that they haven't branded themselves better in recruiting and facilities. If Mike Houston doesn't win this year, he's toast.

Great video. Thank you for giving ECU some publicity. But some of the info was incorrect. You had a ton of info in the 18 minute video. So there was bound to be an error somewhere. You did great. Just a couple mins steps.

Should certainly be improved with new OC and two proven QB’s. A weak schedule should help the win total but won’t help power ratings. Most likely 8-4, 7-5 record.

there is a theory that Mike Houston didn’t expect to be back in 2023 so that’s why he didn’t recruit. In 2022 we lost 3 games by 6 points which all would’ve been wins with an even remotely solid kicking game. People think he expected to win 10 plus games win the conference and get a bigger job.

I remember my cousin who played for North Carolina A&T(fcs hbcu) caught a pick six against Ecu in either 2018 or 2019 and they ended up beating ecu that game and that’s where the viral “tell them bring me my money” clip happened because ecu payed to play against them and lost😂

Logan was the one who turn around the ECU FOOTBALL TEAM! I don't care what other says! His firing was a big mistake by the schools administration! Ruffin McNeil oh, please!
