To be fair, Benzema took him under his wing. Still foul for saying that but he helped him out a lot along the way. Vini came on to the team at the right time. Vinicius story reminds me of Cristiano Ronaldo's beginning in Manchester. Cristiano Ronaldo started at ManUtd when he was 18 just like Vinicius at Real madrid. Craziest talent but endproduct was meh. His first two season where something between absolute genius and pure frustration. His third season was a respectable but still not really satisfying improvement but his fourth season (2006/07) was a complete game changer where he ended second at the Ballon d'or at 22 and competed with or surpassed legends like Ronaldinho, Kaka, Pirlo, Henry and more. In the next season he completely owned world football and he won the Ballon d'or at 23. Will Vinicius is now 22 but might win his first Ballon d'or at 23 way before the more hyped (in some cases even overhyped) players like Felix, Mbappe or Haaland. That would be a great story.

When it comes to comparing Vini and Neymar, Neymar joined Barcelona at 21 years old after kicking ass at Santos for the previous three years. When he joined Barcelona he already put in decent numbers in his first season, and exploded in his second season. I think Vinicius was still too inexperienced when he joined Real Madrid, which may've been why it took him so long to get to his current level. I think a couple more years in Flamengo before joining Real Madrid would've been beneficial to him and he would've arrived in Europe better-prepared. Either way, Real Madrid put their faith in him and he's put in the work on his end, and it eventually paid off big time.
