it was in 2009 when Former Rail minister Mamta Banerjee Announced the Duronto Express in the Indian railways network.
the main USP of this train is non-stop between it destination and passengers can book tickets for the destination station only ( NO INTERMEDIATE STATION BOOKING ALLOWED) this makes the prestige of this train at par or more than the Rajdhani express
but one decision by the railway made everything fall apart

Hwh Mumbai duronto 8 hrs late last year no way uske badse flight le liya. Ye us din ka Roz ka hai . Aj kal rajdhani bhi bich bich me 4-5 hrs late chali jati . Railway din ba din bakwaas hota ja raha . Most biggest fact 2AC me 4-5k Dene ke bad log Bina Bina ticket char jate . Maine dekha hai inko complaint portal hai ye tabhi complain lete sab content creator. Long distance toh railway abar karta hi nahi.

Yeh sastepann ka aavaran jyaada der tak nahi tik sakta. Yeh artificial sastapann desh ke liye bahut mehenga padd rahaa hain.

Exactly. Aur utni bhi acchhi nahi thhi yeh train kabhi bhi. Kitni saari Duronto trains ko band karna padaa, over the years, kyonki voh bhaari loss mein chal rahii thhi. Mumbai Delhi Duronto express, for example, start huii 2012 mein aur shuruaat ke kucchh dinon ke liye acchhi service detii thhi. Parr by the end of 2012, uska khaana aur saaf safaai ekdam bekaar ho gayein thhe.

@@Newhorizon1612 nope. Maximum V.b are in profit. Yes durontos are not profitable to I.R that doesn't mean that all trains are under loss. Yes that's the fault of I.R that they don't maintain a separate record of the revenue generated by all V.b express, so it seems all the V.b express are in loss.

For reasons Best known to railways, 12262 Howrah-csmt duranto runs 3 to 4 hors late. Infact, orfibary superfast trains like 12110 Panchavati exp., & 12140 sewagram sf exp is given preferance over 12262 duranto exp. Passengers in duranto exp. Pay huge sums for. their tickets. But, duranto exp.runs 4 hours late in both direvtions. If, Railways can not run Duranto on time they have no right to charge Premium fare. Accountability should be mandatory. If duranto runs 3 to 4 hrs late regularly, then Premium fare should be refunded.

Aapka baat 100% sahi hai...Recently Sealdah Bikaner Duronto exp ko Koderma me bhi halt diya gya, Mumbai Howrah Duronto ko Kalyan me halt diya gya, LTT Ernakulam Duronto ko Panvel me halt diya gyawhich is worthless....Also, jo saare AC Durontos the, unme SLR Coaches add kiye jaa rahe hai which has reduced its charm in all ways

SLR means Seating cum Luggage Rake, in a type of coach which is divided into two parts one is for sitting and another one is for luggage. This coach is found normally next to guard coach, ladies, guard; handicapped persons are accompanied by the coach.

After changed routes of 12273/74 via pnbe it looks like normal sf exp with less stoppages.. When I first boarded in Duronto in the Yr 2011 that time it runs n reached it's destination before it's Scheduled arrival but now... It's like a history..😢

Bhai pehle ka india bohat accha tha jab se ye modi or bjp aaya na tab se id desh ka haal or bhi bura ho gaya. Din raat violence, hate, hi chalta rahta hai or kuch nahi. Development to sirf aankh ka suhana hai

Not only duranto Increasing Stoppages & halts causing delays, waste of times for every trains like Super Fast, Express trains Aisa ho chuka hain ki superfast trains express ho chuka hain, Express train passenger train ho chuka hain, Passenger train local train ban chuka hain.🤡 Railway ka overall speed bhi kam huwa hain electrified hone ke baad bhi.🤡

I had travelled in Howrah Yasvantpur Duronto Express. The train clicked 135 kmph, it was the most thrilling moment in my life! Momentum matters, hence high speed trains provide more thrill than any other high speed vehicles!

I still remember with Sealdah New Delhi duronto would take only 16hrs to reach new delhi that too with a single HOWRAH WAP4😢now the legacy is completely destroyed, train extended to Bikaner, so avg speed decreased a lot (from 90 to 76), halts increased a lot, and now it even halts at Koderma😢

I liked the decision as from Bangalore to Bhubaneswar in Duronto can reach in 22.5 hrs whereas other trains take 25-33hrs

End to end journey should be done by air. Railways looses lot of revenue without halts. Trains are meant for stopping over few stops after some distances. Same is the case why bullet train makes sense when we have so much air traffic between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. Times and infrastructures have changed since 20 years.

Is train ko politics ki vajah se janbujhkar khatm kiya Gaya.. before 2014 this train was unique and premium. This was the only train in India in normal non AC sleeper coaches they used to provide bedrolls and food which was already included in tickets. Duronto express used to overtake rajdhani express as well.. fastest best. Now everything is gone it is just like normal express now. Only Nagpur Mumbai Duronto express is maintaining its dignity.. travel time is same.

One of the best Duronto service running is between Bengaluru and Kolkata, such a live saver!!! I would say it's the life line for the passengers and great service, the 1st option. Just wish food would have been better...

Last February I travelled on Shalimar - Patna Duronto Express,It has only one halt Asansol Junction.But that train doesn't provide any catering services and takes the same time as another train for this route. But for dynamic fare you have to pay extra fare than another train. I saw the Shalimar Patna Duronto express runs with 1 Duronto livery coach & 4-5 of Humsafar coach & other red khb coach. Before the train runs with ICF Duronto coaches, then it has some sleeper coaches but after lhbfication Indian railways remove the sleeper coaches. I think Duronto livery doesn't come back with newly manufactured lhb coach.

That's right, I had seen soup being served between evening snacks and dinner in Rajdhani and Duronto but that has been completely discontinued. Recently I have travelled by Howrah Pune and Howrah Mumbai Duranto the food is in worst condition as well as train condition of coaches in worst condition.

I have travelled in many durontos but most of them has lost their glory like hwh ndls(12774) and hwh cst(12661).These trains have lost the charm, speed and punctuality but only 3 duronto's have maintained their glory hwh-smvb (12245) and sealdah-puri(22201) these trains have still maintained their glory.puri duronto is still the king of hwh-puri route after vande Bharat,this duronto still reaches puri before time even after having no slack time and has only two stops in entire route of 518 kms:).

I guess Stoppages were added in Durontos because Durontos were running in a loss. I still remember taking a journey from Delhi to Kolkata in Sealdah Duronto (end to end journey)... In my coach, more than 3/4th seats were vacant throughout the journey.. So with just 1/4th passenger occupancy, obviously Duronto was running at a loss.

Bhaiya Mara Ek question tha ki Jo BEML stainless steel EMU'S Sirf Kolkata mein hi kyu chalke hai aur wo bhi jyada quantity me bhi h. Sirf Ek rake Howrah Ke paas hai aur Ek rake Sealdah Ke paas h. thats all, but itni unique design aur shaandaar look Ke bavajud aise aur rakes EMU Ke kyu nhi produce aur other suburban cities me use kiye ja rahe?

End to End jane walo se jyada technical halts walo se railway ko jyada fayda hai isliye ye faisla liya gaya hai, end to end jane walo se train ki sab seats house full nahi jati thi aur Duronto Express train ka maintenance cost bhi jyada hai... Mujhe ek baar Mumbai se Delhi Jana tha tab end to end ticket nahi mili thi to maine Kota tak ticket book ki thi aur actually mujhe connecting train bhi mil gayi aage ke safar tak to mera samay bhi Bach Gaya

Ministry of Railways should concentrate more on *improving* existing trains rather than introducing new trains which benefit comparatively only few of the total travelers on Indian Railways. Many coaches are in deplorable condition. Services of food and cleaning staff is terrible. The Minister and top Officials should conentrate on existing rolling stock rather than boasting about their new toy, Vande Bharat Express. If the attidude does not change, some years ahead Vande Bharat too will go the Duronto way. Undoubtedly.

Indian railways has not revised train fares since 2014. Because revising fares is a politically difficult decision. Everybody will start calling it anti poor. At the same time railways also faces the challenge of AC class travellers switching to flights if AC class fares are increased. As a result something has to fall. Like food quality.

Kolkata Mumbai Duronto 2AC costs 5200 whilst Air fare is 4500 Why prople will do train travel. Kolkata Mumbai 28 hrs scheduled duronto timing whilst it's taking not less than 36 hours

भाई मुझे एक बात समझमे नही आ रहा है कि आज कल जितने भी पुरानी ICF कोच को LHB कोच में कनवर्ट कर रहा है ओ सब लाल कलर में ही क्यू कर रहा है चाहे वो Mail Expres हो Supar fast हो Duranto Expres हो या Garib Rath Expres हो इन सभी ट्रेन को एक ही कलर में डाल दिया है क्या सरकार को हरेक ट्रेन को अपना कलर देने में ज्यादा खर्चा हो जाएगा या कोई और बात है 🤔🤔

In 2013 i travelled from Delhi to Jammu from Duronto That time it was of green colour full.. and literally the speed was amazing But recently 2023 i again travelled from Kanpur to Kolkata i was totally disappointed.. It was so much late unhygienic and the food provided was disgusting

Duranto was a fault on its own. The concept of a continuous train is a myth and it is good that some halts are being given now. Your analysis and reasoning here on Duranto is just unsensible.

Well the same fate is reserved for vande bharat But I think the idea of running such trains between major cities especially cities which have business, religious place etc 🤔 can save such trains They should note this down n make sure such mistakes don't happen with vande bharat

I don't agree with this. I am a regular traveller of Mumbai - Nagpur & Mumbai - Kolkata Duronto Express, and it is still the most favoured train compared to Vidarbha Express, Gitanjali Express, Kurla Express, Bombay Mail, Samarsata Express, Shalimar Express & other trains running on the same route.

This decision was taken because trains were having vacant seats. Other points about degrading service are right. Railways are unable to maintain standards of anything. The same will happen with Vande Bharats and after that with Bullet trains..

हमने जानकारी तो बहुत अच्छी थी लेकिन तुरंत तो मेरे जैसे अभी बताया बहुत ही मतलब मथुरा के पहले दो ट्रेनों को ओवरटेक किया उसके बाद खुद लेट होती चली गई स्वराज एक्सप्रेस इसको ओवरटेक कि नहीं करने दे रही है

भइया एक बात बताएँ की पहले Train Track को joint करने के लिए Fish plate का use किया जाता था और कुछ MM का gap रखा जाता था ताकि गर्मी मे पटरी फैले नही और ठंड मे सिकुड़े नही। जो की एक सार्थक कारण भी है। तो अब नई line बीछाने के लिए Wielding तकनीक का use करके पटरी को एक दूसरे से बिना gap के क्यों जोड़ा जाता है। अर्थात पटरी को permanent welding क्यों किया जाता है क्या इससे पटरी के फैलने सिकुड़ने की समस्या नही आयेगी?

I donot agree with you. It's almost impossible to have consistent high demand for end to end travel. So that trains entire capacity is always used. During off season trains get significant challenges from airlines For prices. Since durunto were giving reservations between big cities only. They were fighting with airlines for passengers. During festival holiday season yes it will be filled but rest of time it will have significant unutilised capacity. Then what will happen. Since booking is not allowed but capacity is there, TTE will allow PPL to enter at technical halts and pocket money given to them by passenger. That's why technical halts were converted. Increasing halts beyond technical halts was a only mistake

In Cities between which Rajdhanis run, Durontos should not be run or run as Rajdhanis. Durontons should have prioritires like Rajdhani on other routes where Rajdhani does not run e.g. Kolkata and Mumbai, Mumbai and Bangalore etc.

I do watch your videos regularly and I'm a fan of your explanation. But I will disagree on some point on Duronto. The problem with Mumbai Duronto is not a problem of all Duronto. Basically Howrah Mumbai/Pune delays for two reason, worst controlling in SECR and secondly SER makes a bullshit step by giving a RSA with SRC MAS AC and hwh smvb ac Express. But Sealdah Bikaner Duronto or Puri Duronto are still very good and Howrah NDLS Duronto is really a bad train I agree. But degradation in catering or launching new and unnecessary stops are problem of all premium trains not only Duronto per se. For instance 22895 Howrah Puri vb has so many stops like BHC JJKR KUR. But still Mumbai Duronto has been destroyed so skillfully by SER. A train which once was compared with Kolkata Rajdhani in terms of punctuality 😞. Nowadays Gitanjali and Jnaneswari are far better and punctual than Khichdi Duronto
