I represented Sagar dai's case when we appealed his ban in AFC. One of the reasons given by AFC. AFC said, while there were doubts but unlike in criminal case where cases are to be proven beyond reasonable doubt, in case of AFC the evidence required was not beyond reasonable doubt and enough proof was seen in this case to ban them. Nepalese government did not fight hard enough for them because they themselves were trying to send these players to jail in the case of treason. He got acquitted by court because there was no law with regards to match fixing in Nepal then however now due to this case a new law has been formulated in 2074 in Nepal that covers the area of match fixing.

I was avid Nepali football fan. Football has not been for same me since this incident happened. This was most heartbreaking moment for me. I can not imagine how angered, disappointed, frustrated and sad I was then. Only I know how much I adorned these player, Sagar Thapa and Ritesh Thapa were my idols. After this event, for me they were my hatest people in entire world. I have not been to single football match since. I do not feel the same excitement to watch football on TV anymore. Eventually I stopped watching it too. This incident killed football for me.

They were made escape goat to save other big fish which is a bad thing but they are not innocent by any means. I remember once in an interview they had confessed about taking money but later changes their statement. Court gave them clean sheet because there was no any law regarding this not because they were innocent. ANFA and FIFA has still not uplift the ban.

Sagar Thapa was a very good player and a captain. Under his captaincy, we made it to semifinal of 2013 Saff championship just one step behind from reaching the final but Nepal played very good football. Most of the time in the case of football match fixing is done by players only. if players dont agree there is no chance of match fixing. Hola anfa is not providing our players enough facilities and income to sustain their life but match fixing is scummy af even in that situation. Also you didn't mention that his case was dismissed coz there was no law regarding match fixing at the time. His reasoning about international transaction seems bullshit and legal made up story. Most of Pro footballers even in the big scene receives that kind of bookies offers regularly you cant control that.. Its upto your moral standard whether to pursue that offer or not. Yes there is ANFA's mismanagement of funds and irresponsibility on huge level in Nepal but still don't make the match fixing less scummy in the world of football. This video seems to be made to side with these allegedly corrupt footballers sobbing story by using sad music.

You presented Sagar Thapa as innocent and scapegoat, while he clearly was involved in match-fixing. he was deemed innocent only because of a lack of law. Other's may be too guilty, but he is not innocent either.

Maybe he was not innocent like you said but what's the point if we pick and throw the few leaves of a toxic tree that actually needs to be removed from its roots. Catching a few small fishes will not deter big fishes from trying to do it again, especially since this only proves that if you have money and power you can easily get away with any crime. It seems like Police did not complete the investigation or maybe they did but let the big fishes off the hook. These things will keep happening until the higher ups involved in corruption are not caught and made examples of.
