Abe is awesome! I love his role as Big James. Month or two ago, I was visiting up at Sundance, near Provo, Utah. I saw a fellow walk past me with a cowboy hat and sandles, and big dark black beard. He looked so familiar to me, but I couldn't quite place him. I was about to walk away, when I decided to take a chance.... I walked up to him and said, "Excuse me, but have you ever seen that series online called The Chosen? He turns to be with a big smile and says, I love that series! I watch it all the time. Wow! I said, you look alot like some of Jesus Apostles in that series. He said to me, thank you so much for saying that, because I am one of those Apostles. I play Big James." I was in Heaven! It was so cool to actually meet Big James. We talked for several minutes, took a picture together and it was just awesome! He thanked me so much for watching and for reaching out to say Hello to him. Abe is total class! He has become my most favorite in The Chosen. Not to knock the actor who played Big James in the first season, but Abe is a much, much better version of Big James. He looks and plays the part so very well. Awesome Son of Thunder! :-)

Cool. I wish I could meet him. I, my older sister and my niece did get to meet the other son of thunder George (aka John) at a meet and greet at ChosenCon and tell him he almost ran into me while I was on set as an extra for season 4 and we saw him again at the airport the next day and got a picture with him and after my older sister and niece hugged him he turned to me and asked if I wanted a hug too and I told him it would be better than getting run into (he was laughing so I hope he knew I was just joking).

I just started watching Chosen during this Lenten season. And I am obsessed with this series. I am just currently at the beginning of season 3. I cannot help but feel a certain relationship with all these characters. It’s a “story” that I knew my whole life, coming to life in my heart and soul. How lucky you are to meet Abe. I guess it’s because this nation and the world is sick of watching over sexualized shows and movies,, movies and shows about vampires, witches, murdering, idolizing darkness, utilizing love which is the highest virtue the wrong way. That is what Hollywood and media has done. But shows like this one comes along and clarifies things for those persons like me that are looking for better television. FINALLY an interview asking the questions that I really wanted to hear the answers to! I hate to say it, but most interviewers (especially the non-faith-based ones) ask dumb/irrelevant questions that lead the actors down the road into (what turns out to be) boring interviews & I think you touched on the reason why: It's not 1% spiritual, it's 100% spiritual... & so many interviewers want to compartmentalize the spiritual down into a very small almost irrelevant (to them) portion & instead pack the bulk of the interview with Hollywood type questions about "The Biz" "the glitz" "the glamor" & that's NOT why this show is successful. Yes this thing is run like a business - it has to be or nothing would get done - but it's 100% spiritual. There's some super special intangible "thing" happening with this show & everyone knows it & THAT'S what people want to hear about. My especially favorite thing to know/find out is how each of the actors were each on their own "Road to Emmaus" when they were called to be involved in this special "thing." For me, my main take away is going to be that a man named Abe just "happened" to be in a town called Bethlehem with the star of Bethlehem over it when he was called to be in a show about Jesus right at the precise intersection point in his life where he had given up on acting. It's 100% spiritual.

There are so many angels of alignment - an actual category of angels that bring coincidental things to show us stuff. Beautiful to hear the Bethlehem alignment because this sort of thing shows us it is God not us thinking something.

Great interview Abe.....you are amazing. One reason I think The Chosen is successful as well is because the show has no judgement. Jesus guides with His preaching as you said and His disciples are learning and growing and that is what it is supposed to be about. And that is what the audience loves!!

Clay, I just discovered your KZbin channel by your interview with Abe tonight. I loved the interview as one of the best that I have seen of all the Chosen apostles. Abe, the first episode that you played the part of Big James- I was so impressed with the life you brought into the character that I immediately sent a text message to Dallas expressing my delight in him choosing you. Big James became my favorite character in the series after Jesus, Matthew and John. You have a most believable personality in the series and in you as a human. I have read all about your history now and definitely believe you were given to us by God’s grace. Thank you for your inspirational journey and sharing with us. But, I will always read the Bible before the Chosen . Like Abe and many of the Chosen staff, actors remind us THE ITS ONLY A SHOW! Abe is correct about sharing the Word of God when folks want to hear…if not ,The Lord says that they will know them by the fruits( true humble hearts helping others, doing for the Lord…just bc He is Lord) of their labor. People can be selfish, and NOT EVEN KNOW IT. THEY AT TIMES HIDE BEHIND THEIR RELIGIONS. SO, be an example for the Lord! God bless🙏❤️ Another thing, Dallas could have started this project with the Old Testament, but I’m so glad that He started with the New Testament( probably God’s plan 😊). But, this world is starting to show some signs of the end times and God wants us to be ready! It’s GO TIME FOLKS!!

Oh! Yes, I finally get to say this directly to Abe, hopefully. The first season's Big James was a shadow character. Not to fault the actor, but in the second season, when Abe spoke the first few lines as he pulled the ploy, lit up the screen. His good looks, his flashing eyes and his voice were a force. Now I see why from this interview. He has lived it and he has the heart it takes to transmit being human authentically. Abe brought Big James to life. YES! You are right! Dallas is so brilliant and guided. He knows that we all want this kind of love and you don't have to be Christian to love Jesus. The writing is brilliant, deep and authetic. There are scenes that leave me in tears, it is so stunning. The Cinematography is rich in detail and crafting, the night lighting touches an ancient cord of heart-home. And the beings that play within the charaters are beyond good. Love spills from the screen. Not that Abe needs this affirmation, but you don't often hear that science discribes the spiritual world, and I know for certain that one day, the two will join for a complete union of understanding of the amazing vastness of reality. Abe's got it!

I think the difference is that preaching makes people feel obligated to follow the preacher, their religion etc. When Jesus teaches he NEVER makes people feel judged, like he's telling them that what they are currently doing is wrong.
