Adam Forman History is history. It can be a team with the most championships, a coach with the most championships or a school that wins 2, 3 or 4 in a row. Stats are just stats and can be made in a number of ways and looked at in various terms. Like how Miami has all this NFL talent you talked about but can’t win their own conference or a national title. I’m sure that’s historical too.
@calebsimmons87156 жыл бұрын
Hahahahaha. You're joking, right? The "U" is over. Clemson will stop you every time. Pretty sure last year showed just how large the talent gap between Miami and CLEM is. And the same w/ CLEM and BAMA in the playoffs. And It doesn't end with Saban. You're insane if you don't think he is mentoring someone right now who will step up. Kirby Smart is likely the next Saban. Don't be surprised if he comes back or even Dabo. Someone with the right credentials will step in. Don't worry about it. Focus on the "U" and that top 25! Hahahahaha.

I'm not an Alabama fan but I have nothing but mad respect for that program. People forget that they were winning national championships as far back as 1925. Had a couple on the 1930's as well. This program was an all around powerhouse before Saban but experienced some dark years in the five or so years leading up to Saban's arrival in Tuscaloosa. Saban is one hell of a coach and I personally feel like his players learn things while playing under him that will benefit them for a lifetime. Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State, Texas, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, USC, etc. are power programs. From the research I've done, Bama is out in front of those other power house programs. Arguably the most successful program in college football history. There's several other SEC schools that have great winning traditions also so hats off to LSU, Tennessee, Florida, Auburn and Georgia. Those schools don't have a ton of national championships but they dominate against non conference opponents and usually have winning records year after year. Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Arkansas have had a ton of great seasons and produced a few national championships themselves. The SEC as a whole has produced at least 32 or more national championships in the history of college football.

There's 0% chance Nick Saban doesn't retire at Alabama. He's a "Bama man" now, through and through. He's put down roots here: He's moved his mother to Birmingham; opened his own chain of car dealerships in the state; his daughter & grandchild live here; and he just recently donated $1M of his own money to the university. I repeat, HE DONATED $1M OF HIS OWN MONEY! That's how much he loves Alabama, folks. Nick Saban is elated with life in Tuscaloosa, and the unique culture of Alabama football altogether. He suspects that he's been able to enjoy this unprecedented level of dominance because of the unique attributes the Alabama program possesses over other schools. He's also up for the personal challenge of being as beloved as Bear Bryant also, whereas in the past it was always football only with Nick. It wasn't until the 2015 national championship that it finally hit him he's making history, and is part of something very special right now. Consequently, he's begun to transition into being more personable and congenial as a sports icon. Yes, you read that correctly: Nick Saban really is more humble and gracious these days. Currently, Nick has a new goal he's pursuing. He wants to be just as much of a beloved icon in this state the same way Bear Bryant always has been, in addition to simply being remembered as the greatest college coach ever. Now that he's equalled Bryant as a giant of Alabama football, he's considering his legacy off the field too, whereas in the past it was only about the next game; the next practice; the next recruit; etc. He's become-- of all things --more human as he's obtained immortality.

Tremendous props for the respect shown the Alabama program.. Bama fan my entire life, yet wise enough to realize I aint done anything to turn Alabama around, I have just been blessed to enjoy it. I grew up with my idol being Paul Bear Bryant yet even I now must proclaim Bear Bryant forever more the most Beloved Crimson Tide Coach. Yet even I when pressed to name the greatest coach in Bama history, I must cave in and give that title to Nick Saban. MY GOD HE HAS 6 TOTAL and 5 AT Alabama and in a much shorter time frame than Bryant but most importantly Saban has done this in the era of scholarship restrictions. Bear could sign as many as he wanted and reports are he signed some he knew would never play simply so he need not compete against them. We simply hit the lottery when we hired Nick Saban. When you understand his philosophy its so basically simple. Play the season 1 play at a time. Alabama players never wander out of their lanes in an attempt at the great play. In other words, run a reverse against Alabama, find me one that was successful under Saban. Offensively, you just do not turn the ball over. So if Tua has a game this year where say he throws 3 picks? Even if we win, I bet Jalen Hurts is running the team the next week. Defensively? Defense is the entire key to Alabama, always a top 5 defense. Finally when UGA hired away Bamas defensive Coordinator didnt hurt Alabama because Nick Saban truly runs Alabamas Defense, the Coordinator handles practice. And trul0y finally Kids 15 to 20 now act like Alabama will win forever, assume when Saban retires because we are ALABAMA we will get the next great coach. Those fans are in for a death trap. I cant imagine a coach stupid enough to walk in Sabans shadows so we will see lean years for a bit when Nick hangs it up. Bless us with another 10 Nick and that may lead me up to my grave appointment. But the young fans need to realize we do not have Saban because we are ALABAMA, the correct statement right now is we are Alabama again currently because we have NICK SABAN. TEE IT UP AND GET THE BALL IN THE AIR, LETS GO BAMA, WE HAVE ANOTHER TITLE TO WIN! WE ARE COLLEGE FOOTBALL, WE ARE THE CRIMSON TIDE OF ALABAMA!!!

Coach Bryant was NOT the first "Great" football coach at Alabama. He was the second (if not the third). BUT, Coach Bryant Was a GREAT college football coach, undoubtedly THE greatest up to the time of his death. He resurrected THREE dead programs - Kentucky, Texas A&M, and Alabama - all were losers when he was hired, and winners before he left. Bryant's amazing record of SIX National Championships is all the more amazing when you consider he was cheated out of TWO more National Titles by Poll voting politics. That said, when the dust settles, history will very likely record Nick Saban as THE #1 Greatest of ALL TIME.

No, the real reason Bill Curry left to coach Kentucky wasn't over a dispute for a raise, but because he couldn't take the intense pressure that comes with being the head coach at Alabama. He didn't come from a background that prepared him for college head coaches living in a fish bowl and getting the same scrutiny as a NFL head coach. Another, equally important reason Bill Curry fled Tuscaloosa was the fact he couldn't beat Auburn. During the mid-to-late 80s Auburn capitalized on Bear Bryant's death and built a powerful program themselves finally under Pat Dye. Curry thought Pat Dye's program was too far ahead of Alabama's at that time, and fan & administrators expectations to overcome Auburn rightaway weren't realistic, and that they'd never allow him the time needed to overcome that gap. Here's the most disappointing aspect of the whole Bill Curry debacle: Hiring Curry was more harmful because of who they didn't hire. Alabama had the chance to hire Bobby Bowden from Florida State in 1986 instead, but they blew their opportunity by insisting he interview for the job first. Bobby Bowden was a Birmingham, AL native who grew up a huge Alabama fan and Bear Bryant admirer who would've loved to coach Alabama. Unfortunately, the university president stepped into the hiring process-- which is supposed to be conducted by the Athletic Director, not the school president --and deemed Bobby Bowden a diva who'd be difficult to work with in the future since he wouldn't agree to an interview now. For his part, Bowden was already considered among the best coaches in the nation by the mid 80s, and, rightly so, felt his career's body of work proved he was ready for the Alabama job. So all parties came to an impasse, and Bama hired Bill Curry instead. As you now know, everything that happened with that Bowden guy afterwards at FSU is college football history.

Again, your tears taste like a rare vintage Pinot Noir from some mist shrouded range in the foothills of the French Alps. Thanks for making my day with that insanely long, extraneous and totally irrational fail. My personal favorite part is when you hysterically comment that our team is Saban not our football program as if there is some distinction there. Last time I checked a program is the thing that goes out and hires a coach in the first place (derp, derp). A program is something that keeps that coach from leaving. By that metric the Alabama football program is A1. But again, thank you for displaying, (as if there was any doubt) that Alabama's success makes you so angry that your mind fails at the most rudimentary logic. I suppose next you'll tell us that all the national championships that Bear Bryant won were merely the result of having a certain coach. As if it wasn't the school and the program that went out and attained that coach because he was the best in his field. That I even have to point this stuff out to you is kind of sad but also breathtakingly funny. But common sense has never been the hallmark of Miami Hurricane funboys. I laugh so hard that tears come out of my eyes when I think about how infuriated you're going to be this season when Alabama eviscerates the competition once again. I hope you at least have a good supply of tissues handy. I can tell you that I will also find it amusing to watch Miami limp its way through another pitifully mediocre campaign.

I was born and raised in Mobile, AL as a lifelong Alabama fan. I must admit there is a lot of ignorance and arrogance amongst our fan base, but honestly what fan base is perfect? As one of the true Bama fans that’s been there since the really lean years this is truly beyond special. Most people can’t grasp how rare and truly special this run is. Sure there been runs in the past with some similarities of dominance, but there was far less parody and the top programs ran everything. I try to tell other Bama fans to slow down and just try to truly enjoy this greatness, I mean dear lord Saban has created a program so dominant it’s considered a failure anything short of a national championship. Roll Tide Roll as always.

The greatness of ALABAMA football is greater than any other program. It starts with Wallace Wade and train trips to the coast, being underdogs and slaying Golitah. WALLACE WADE, DID WHAT NO OTHER ALABAMA COACH HAS DONE. At 49 years old, he gets a commission in the US ARMY, and two years later is a artillery battalion commander digging his own foxhole in Belgium in the Battle of the BULGE. Granted he had already left ALABAMA and was coaching at DUKE, but ALABAMA owes the base or foundation of its greatness to Coach Wade. iT'S ALWAYS FUN TO ARGUE WHO WAS BETTER. Gray hairs like me might argue with today's bleached blonds, about this one or that one. WALLACE WADE set a very high bar that makes being great the only way to reach that bar. If all goes well, we are heading to the Bay area in about six weeks. THE TRIP WILL BE ABOUT FOUR HOURS. Wades teams made that trip three times in six years on trains. Remember that when we go through security in January at Atlanta HARTSFIELD AIRPORT.

One thing left unmentioned (and I don't blame you): The effect Alabama has had on the entirety of college football. Playoffs? Can be traced back to Bama. Conference championships? Traced back to Bama. We even managed to influence Dabo Swenney at Clemson, and have staffed so much of College Football and the NFL.

From what Mal Moore (Alabama AD who hired Saban) said, he was actually getting off a plane at Miami International Airport when Nick Saban was giving the famous "I'm not taking the Alabama job" statement. Moore said it was that evening when he officially approached and offered Saban the job after being told numerous times by Saban's agent over the phone that he wasn't interested. Mal Moore also said that if he didn't return to Tuscaloosa with Nick Saban that he would be fired. I don't know if all this is true but interesting nonetheless.

I don't like Alabama, but coach Saban is an incredible coach and I'm always excited to watch them play SEC teams, they generally don't loose because of mistakes so when they loose it's usually a very good game which is really what I want to see.

The rise of Alabama football began in 1926. Down 19-0 at the half in the Rose Bowl, Bama shut out Washington in the second half and scored 20 for the win. And don't downplay the first five championships. Who else should have won? Do you have a clue.

After Ryan Williams just committed for DeBoer, I got chills watching Julio pick up that hat in 2008. Julio truly changed so much for the program and Coach Saban, Hollywood Williams has that same chance. Roll Tide my man!! 🐘

There are like three time periods in Alabama football before Bryant , during Bryant , and Saban era . Bryant's era was different with rules for players and Saban era with rules to màke programs equal it is amazing what he has done.

Clemson fans seem to think he'll stay there forever but from what I've seen, he's never flat out said anything like, "no, I wouldn't do that" when asked about it. He seems to just dance around the possibility but why wouldn't he pull a Kirby Smart and go back to his alma mater?

Oh man, I was a kid during the Stallings years and became a fan during the Dubose years. The days of going 6-5 and going to the Liberty or Indepence Bowl. Dark times we went through. The real reason Nick reneged his statement he wasn’t going to Alabama was his wife, Miss Terry. She hated Miami and agreed to let the Alabama AD come to dinner when Nick wouldn’t talk to him.

I saw the Bear era, I lived the dark days, Saban has put together a run unlike any at any program at any time. To do so is amazing, 2 greatest college coachs ever and both coached Bama, when Nick retires here is hoping we get number 3. I fear this will never be done anywhere again.
@united85864 жыл бұрын
just saying. bear bryant was originally at kentucky and kentucky was the top dog in football and basketball. when they offered rupp more money then bryant he got mad. if kentucky offered him the same amount of money as rupp kentucky would be THE power house of basketball and football
