What fascinated me the most about their LA trip is everything that they accomplished in such a short time...the Reality Show, them making their DARK AND WILD ALBUM, preparing for their comeback, and returning to be the opening act for KCON. It is mind blowing

In Suga's mixtape D-2 he says "I'm done telling people that idol's music is music too". And in his Agust D mixtape he also said: "My adress is idol, I won't deny it". And that was back in 2016. He accepted himself as an artist and idol a long time

He accepted around 2015 , he said in a radio show ( his mixtape was written during that time ). He accepted cuz he saw how hard the idols work with all the tight schedule and all, so after seeing that and living that , he respected them. And the issue he was addressing in what do you think ? what about the media asking them the same stuff all the time, same with the military service etc. like suga said he wrote a long time ago when he was in the mood. The guy was so done ( but you can tell by watching their questions in interviews from 2018-2019).

I think that Suga went through several stages regarding his musical identity, first the denial of being an idol, then the acceptance of being an idol, and finally as he said in his part in Dionysus, he simply reincarnated as what he is, an artist. even now they have said not to be labeled idol or kpop, because they no longer want to be labeled with something specific.
@mev9752
@mev9752 3 жыл бұрын
His process is seen in his first mixtape if you read the lyrics in order of the songs , he is telling about his life , including his struggles that was that "identity crisis with idol and artist ". He said that releasing was like therapy for him and he took off a big weight of his shoulder and after that he was better mentally also in 2015 in a radio show he talked how he realize that idols work hard af too with all the right schedule so he after that he didn't find him a bad thing. BtS as a group released IDOL ( even tho RM and suga already accepted the idol part on their mixtapes but there were still a lot of people in the media and knets talking how bts aren't artists they are just a famous idol group , meanwhile other said they aren't idols that they reach the artists level but later other people said but they are still doing music shows , etc. and the US media kind went in the same in how bts is kpop or not. So to answer all of that , is in on the song IDOL that's meant to show how bts are proud to any part of them ( them of the yesterday and present , their country , in their bad and their good ) and show that they just care of doing what they like that's music as longest they have someone that want to heard them. So after that they close the chapter of that but again the media keep putting them in the kpop category specially after the awards in the west did. But bts don't care as longest their fans are there and enjoy their music , so suga referred to that in Dionysius ( that is about their love for the art it doesn't matter what they are ) and what do you think ? On his second mixtape , that he said he did a long time ago when he was in the mood maybe it was the time that every media was putting what is kpop and asking them that stuff all the time. Now they say they just do bts music lol, maybe to make those reporters to stop asking lol.

As far as i know Jimin had the problem that during this first era they wanted him to have this "manly", "jock" "bad boy" look, thus he trained to be buff but he apparently struggled with it. Now as they more or less settled with themselves we see how the "tough" persona was totally not his cup of tea, cause we see him now and how he differs from 2013-2014 For me personally he changed visually the most

Some ARMYs don't like AHL. I think it gave them the needed expirience. BTS is one of the groups from Korea if not the only one that knows what real hip-hop is. They learned it from the beginning basically thanks for this show.

ngl I think AHL really played a big role in their success. They faced criticism at such a young age, but also it helped them to open their mind, to go out of Korea and experience cultural differences, through which they’ve learned a lot. I would say that the show is what made them so different, so unique compared to other group.

I never watched the whole thing, only snippets and found it pretty awful. The kidnap thing (sure, at least some members were informed of what's gonna happen but JK and Hobi looked genuinely distressed), the way they were forced to make themselves ridiculous for entertaiment purposes etc. It wasn't even BigHit who produced this show. They had to take every opportunity back then, even if it was rather questionable.

I dont think that people have had a problem with Jimin beeing too hip-hopish. I think that most of them didnt even know about his contemporary background back then. But I think it was a kind of like (anaware) problem for himself. Now he often expresses his soft side through his style and contemporary dance. He also shows his feminin side openly. He has a masculin and a feminin side, sexy and cute, angel and devil. He has so many fascets, but back then he has to be the masculin member showing of his abs and muscles. And at some point he struggled with this image. In a backstage vid, while watching their BS&T performance he said: "I think the people dont like me for who I am, they only want to see my bare skin". That hits me hard. Therefore I am happy to see him now beeing happy with who he is. On a selca from the ON:E concert you can see the words "Illecebra" and "Arcanus" written on the palm of his hands. And he wrote few month ago: "I miss those who love me just the way I am so much!" He is one of the nicest and most warm hearted person I know. RM said, Jimin puts the members and everyones needs before his own. I love this man so much!

even for some people ( including myself) there was a lot of cringe on AHL it was the best decision made for the guys back then , some people didn't like Coolio and his manners with the guys but all that experience they had with him and the rest of the tutors it was worth it, it was the hard way but the guys absorbed a lot of knowledge about hip hop and music in general, also one of my favorite episodes was when Nate and Tony took the guys to L.A streets and they give some food to homeless people and also received some really good advices from them , a very down to earth experience in general and also help them to create the masterpiece that was the album " Dark&Wild"...I wish the guys could see all this tutors again now, yes...I am dreaming xD thanks for the reaction DT Parker.

Jimin was defenetly searching for himself. You can tell that Jimin from earlier BTS career is so different from Jimin past 2016. He really tried to be more masculine, look more hip-hop - ish, act differently. Jimin had such a hard time later as well figuring out who he really is. And then his struggle with his looks, weight... He is such a strong person to go through that. I'm happy that he found himself.

V has talked about how he would get in trouble or be scolded during vocal lessons. I really think being in a room with Iris for about an hour was worth the whole reality show. V was simply told his voice was good, and he absorbed that like a sponge. A voice that moves people. He really took that confidence in himself with him when they left. And visiting skid row themselves, having been in such training mode and sheltered from a lot - I believe that helped shape so much of their thoughts on attitude and outlook and making sure that even if others were putting them on pedestals, they made sure to keep themselves on the ground.

I think born singer cover performance was really their way to express how they are really true to their core self and in the song the last suga express how he accept being an idol finally. I think music can be express in different way and even though its hard, they should not bother as their music is what really touch people and not the category under which it is label.

I understand why some people really disliked AHL because there were definitely parts that are cringey or uncomfortable but I think it is such an important and pertinent part of BTS's story, coming into their own, learning and appreciating their roots in hip-hop/rap, and also learning about hip-hop/rap culture and where it came from. AHL taught these boys a lot and it helped them grow as individuals and artists and as such I think it is important to acknowledge in their rise even if some people find it hard to watch. I strongly believe that the positives of this show and what they learned far outway the negatives that came along with it.

I enjoyed AHL also. Coolio said from the beginning he was going to teach them the hard way. When we went through school there were some teachers that were rough BUT you learned. Also as you go through life, you will meet ALL TYPES of people but you have to learn to adjust to the situation. The one I felt was of NO ADVANTAGE to BTS was the guy that was with Jin and SUGA to help them. He wanted them to dance and perform in the market because he said so like they were clowns..🤢 After segment, you didn't see him anymore. Good Riddance. Everyone in the life is not going to be polite or soft to you. Learn what you can from them (good, bad or ugly) 🤣and move on.💜

I agree with you on AHL. The thing I really appreciate about AHL is the reality of it all, which I feel grounded BTS even more (who was already hella grounded). Life is about the good and the bad and they got to experience life in the most literal sense, also from the perspective of a different culture/race. Yes some things that happened in the beginning could have been avoided 🙃but "the me of yesterday is still me" said RM so all that they've gone through made them who they are today and I can only respect and appreciate that, In the end, I'm glad they had that experience 🙏🏾🙌🏾.

The thing you said about Jimin of having the opposite problem from Joon and Yoongi is true to some extent. In the early days he kind of put on this manly persona, trying to be hip hop and to fit into the concept. It was ok, but he wasn't himself and I think his internal battle went on until around wings/spring day era when he finally dropped it. That's when he started to be softer and embrace the part of him that wasn't rooted in this forced, toxic masculinity. And it's quite ironic because by dropping that stereotypical act of masculinity, he let his natural charm to flow through and he became manly in a way that didn't necessary imply that he had to act though.

Jhope having the most game with the ladies makes total sense to me. He was streetdancer. He's a confident, extroverted guy. And most importantly, he's the only one is Bangtan who has an older sister. Don't underestimate the power of an older sister😁...you could tell even from his older videos that when he imitated girls, he was pulling from source material. Plus he's a total mama's boy. Honestly, Jhope seems like a class act when it comes to women. Always stressing consent in a really natural way, right from the beginning...that time early on, when they had a Muslim fan come onstage and JHope quickly warned the rest of Bangtan that she may be uncomfortable with men touching her, to not go for the handshake or hug unless she initiates it....Hobi drinks his respect wamen juice and even when he's being flirty player, it's apparent

There were definitely some cringe-worthy moments in AHL. They needed to grow as artists not everything in life is soft and pink. It doesn't mean I want them to be completely disrespected. The one moment I don't like is when Jin and Suga went shopping and a guy at some point ignored them. They had to find a particular stuffed animal and they found the next best thing, He got mad at them for their choice and hit Jin with it. Suga and I felt the same way when we saw it. I think he might have been removed from the show. Coolio was not the worst for me because he taught them what they needed to know in his own way.

The only real problems I had with AHL was the prank in the beginning and one of their "mentors" (coughDantecough) who had no explanation for his negative attitude (even the other mentors said they had no idea what his deal was). Other than that, the experiences they gained and the lessons they learned from the ppl they met is what I absolutely adore about this series. Their growth and the shine of their personalities really come out at you with this, so I def hope any ARMY watch the whole thing (including all the extra footage not shown in the main series, where Coolio is shown to be a lot more friendly btw--you have to search for those tho 😞). Also RIP to Jewel Brangman (woman the guys "picked up" in the white dress for their MV). If anyone has the opportunity, pls look up and support her father's, Alexander Brangman's, efforts of getting justice for her. (YT won't let me link 🥲).

Im glad Coolio said it to them like that. Not everyone is going to be gentle and soft with them. At least he wasnt two faced with them. He let them see exactly who he was. It was his truth, his culture and his experiences. Same as Warren G but how he expressed it was polar opposite with the guys. They needed to learn the origins and culture of the hip-hop they were singing and dancing to. What it stemmed from and what it meant to those OG that started it, the history of it. Just as we as fans should be learning about their Korean culture, norms, and traditions. Big props to Bang PD for sending them to learn and understanding that.

@@didinau from the get go, the boys (jin suga) felt that he was disappointed to be teamed up with them and he was not listening at all to their ideas for the presentation. He refused to cooperate on wearing the apron as a team costume, and while they were out shopping for props, he was forcing them to dance in public when they were clearly uncomfortable with it. Suga really ended up getting heated up to the point that jin asked the camera guy to stop filming for a while and they ended up completing everything by themselves with Dante chilling off on the van. And when they showed him the stuffed birds they got because there was no squeaky chicken available, he was all huffy and hit jin with it. And finally during the performance he was just doing whatever he wanted on the sides and at the back and obviously did not know anything about what was going on in the performance. So disrespectful! After that, not a single word or explanation was given as to why he seemingly just vanished without a trace... but obviously it’s for being such an a-hole 🤷‍♀️

It’s funny, but I have not been able to watch AHL, all the way thru because of the beginning. Since a few years have past, I think I will watch it now. As usual It is fun to watch BTS with you, one of my top five favorite reactors. 💜💜💜

American hustle is still s hustle for me. My bias is V so you know. It pains me I hate Coolio and the guy who slap Jin. The kid who insulted Jimin too and the so called boss where him and JK worked for. My boys deserve respect Anyway i respect them more because of that show and i agree they learned s lot in American Hustle Oh to answer youre question how Suga and RM handle the insult from underground hiphop Well first Bang PD treat them at restaurant. Feed them well with food and words of wisdom. Then Suga put all his thoughts and feelings into music known as Agust D Music keeps them going

You're not truly an ARMY if you haven't seen American hustle life, because they are who they are because of this experience. This and where they lived and all the things they had to do and endure those first few years is what made them the men they are. As for Suga I think this is where Agust'D was born to be able to express his feelings anger and anguis. Plus let's not forget those Cyphers.💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
