Hello There! If you want to check out more from me, I have finally released my next video essay titled "How Return of the Jedi Changed Star Wars", which is all about the impact Episode VI has had on many of the stories we've gotten in the last 40 years in the Star Wars franchise. Check it out! :) kzbin.info/www/bejne/Zquqm52bprRjqpY

He’s cute, baby-like, doesn’t cry or make demands, he adores Mando … and he’s an absolute stinker if there’s anything resembling food nearby. 😀
@Lucifronz10 ай бұрын
Lovably mischievous. He's pretty much *never* annoying and when he does something he's not supposed to, it's humorous and cute. I think what's more impressive is that they wrote such a universally likable character, but more than that, he's *believable.* A real-life baby would never be this restrained or quiet, but we don't really question it (partially because he's a 50-year-old alien baby so the rules are different). It just works.
@dalovelee666 Жыл бұрын
I love Grogu but it’s the Father and Son relationship that captures everyone’s heart. Ultimately it’s something we all get from having that or the lack of bond and desiring that relationship.
@Lucifronz10 ай бұрын
Definitely. The audience can easily place themselves in Din's position whenever Grogu's in danger, because who wouldn't want him to rescue the baby from the evil Imperial overlord?

My husband gave me a talking laughing Grogu for Valentine's Day. I had to later be in the hospital for over a week so my husband brough Grogu to me. No visitors were allowed because COVID was still at it's height. All the Nurses just loved coming into my room just to play with Grogu for a bit lol! I love the episode where Grogu picks up a little guy and Mando has to tell him to put the little guy down. Then he points to Grogu and he says, "Bad Bebay." He was smaller than Grogu so maybe Grogu just wanted a little buddy lol! ❤️🇨🇦🙂

That reminded me of a cartoon that used to be on when I was a kid. Some animal, I think it was a dog, wanted a squirrel to be his "little friend to hug and squeeze and squeeze and hug. I had a little friend, but he doesn't move any more" and he'd hold up a mangled squirrel that he'd hugged and squeezed too much. I think the little alien must have seen the cartoon, hence the panic.

Hey everyone! Thank you so much for watching. Originally I uploaded this video a month ago, but wanted to get it out there again just before Season 3, as I think it is fun to look back on the history of Grogu before Season 3's release! May the force be with you all! :)

i really enjoyed this video in every aspect… i just wish they wont kill this father and son theme in the future of The Mandalorian bcoz i am still devastated about Qui-Gon Jinn’s death since its theatrical release in my homeland 🇵🇭💁🏻♀️🥺back in 1999… i fell inlove with SW since TPM and thats bcoz of Qui-Gon and his relationship with Obi-wan a father and son like relationship that i wish we have explored through a live action adaption… i wish Disney would do a series of the events prior to TPM where Qui-Gon was training a much younger version of Obi-wan like Grogu 💁🏻♀️🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Very interesting and well made. My mum had lost interest in Star Wars around the time of the prequels and even though I had tried to get her back in it was her seeing clips of Grogu that got her into it again to the point we watched clone wars and rebels in between season 2 and book of Boba Fett. We've even travelled to Florida to visit galaxy's edge together. So I'll always be thankful to the little green dude

My 87 year old mother lived with me until last year. She absolutely adored "The Little Green Thing." I said one day that she only watched The Mandalorian to see him and she replied "Ooh, no. I like the show, it's a good old-fashioned adventure." I'm glad we had that before her dementia set in. Now, she doesn't always know exactly who I am, but when I show her a picture of Grogu on my phone, she always knows who he is.

My mom got a smart tv about 6 years ago. She never cared to use any of its smart functions. Anytime I’d show her anything on youtube or any streaming service that she somewhat enjoyed, she’d still turn it off as soon as i’d leave the living room. When i recently started watching the mandalorian i told her i started watching baby yoda and all of a sudden she wanted to see some of it with me. A day later i continue watching the mandalorian and what do i hear from across the hall? Mandalorian music. My mother taught herself for the first time how to use the smart tv functions and navigate through disney + so she could watch baby yoda on my account. We binged the show within 3 work days.
@zacmumblethunder74663 ай бұрын
My mother is now 88 and in a nursing home. She doesn't always know who I am, but she always recognises "Little Grogu, bless his little face." I'm glad we had 2½ seasons of Mandalorian together. She actually really liked the half season about Boba Fett, too.

Darth vader is face of star wars. Even Luke. & his sister Leia. Here's problem: everyone is older we get old n then the prior generation before us passes un. & then we become next in line. Luke n Leia aren't young anymore they were before 40 yrs ago. Especially since princess Leia passed away, she's doing better in heaven now I hope with the lord. Harrison Ford is getting up there close soon. So is Mark Hamill & George Lucas. Anthony Daniel's is getting up there too along with Billy dee williams. Everyone gets older & we all go unward to the next life. With the heavenly father in heaven. Unless half of us have done bad sinful things against ten commands n went against the heavenly lord father then it's opposite. Either purgatory or H word. The lord is always aware everything going on. Don't forget it. It's going be sorrowful after they all pass un. And all of us too one day. It'll be if we were never here. When we are. & were once. I am one of these people that discovered Mandalorian without being a previous fan of Star Wars, even though I always liked the aesthetics. (I didn't discover it from the hype for Grogu, I discovered it as I got interested in the new technology that this show is using to film. Anyway.) I have a probably unpopular opinion on another reason that this show became popular. Of course, it's the cute baby Grogu, no question about that but it is also the main character. The human protagonist is not a young man discovering his abilities or (what would have been a common choice for our era) a kick-ass woman. He is a lone, almost middle aged man, set in his ways, old-fashioned and with ambiguous morality, who is strong but at the same time decides to take care of a baby. We have an alpha-male in a literal shining armour tending to a cute green baby....! I mean you cannot get more stereotypical than that but it is not stereotypical in a bad way. The character represents positive masculinity. He is surrounded by strong women. The whole universe of the series is very well balanced from every aspect. The popularity may have to do with that too.

I definitely agree, that’s another reason why I love the series so much. Mando is a great character and I honestly enjoyed it so much to see someone like him grow and take care of a cute child. We don’t often have male characters like him (anymore?). I also like that he is not some “chosen one” or heroic leader, but just a man who’s rather introverted and morally ambiguous, who grows throughout the series in a way that seems believable.

when i first heard about the show, i wasnt too interested to be honest (its essentially a space opera-western and i have never been into that PLUS the disney-movies kinda put me into the "nah im good" group) HOWEVER, when i saw some memes of "Baby Yoda" , i was beyond intrigued cause Yoda has always fascinated me.. so i started to watch the show and when that iconic moment of "the baby looks at the mandalorian" happened, i was sold. literally the next day i went on the hunt for merch and while it took some time (cause there wasnt any official merch yet), eventually, the child made his way home :D my first "Baby Yoda" (whom i call big baby) arrived on july 3rd 2020 and last year in may, a little brother joined us as well! :D its the same "doll" (both are the og-mattel ones) but due to them being made 2 years apart, they have quite a few differences :D for example, the material for the face, hands and ears is much softer on the newer one. and his skin color is slightly brighter than the first one and yes, if i had the space ( i will soon :D) i would buy another 5 of the little guys because Baby Yoda aka Grogu aka (spoiler for s3, go watch it NOW!) Sir Din Grogu is the greatest thing Disney has produced thats related to star wars. this is the way.

I got my mom to watch both The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett with me, even though she has never really liked Star Wars, just by showing her my Grogu toy (the one that moves when you pet his little head), funniest part is I also never liked Star Wars that much (saw a few of the movies with my dad and his side of the family but that's all) and I watched the Mandalorian because I randomly saw a Tik Tok of a guy cosplaying as Din and doing a sketch with said Grogu toy. We both ended up really liking the story and adoring Mando, but if Grogyuwasn't there I wouldn't even know the show existed. Also Grogu is so adorable that even the toy, which isn't even as half as realistic as a pupett has people forgetting he isn't real, I had friends over recently and he kept being passed around, talked to, and carefully put to sleep while carried.

Grogu is meant to be next Mandalore The Great .. Remember this is not a story of a jedi but Mandalorians. Trust me Grogu will never want go be a jedi ever again, he already bond to all The Mandalorians. He goin to save Mandalore and rebuild Mandalore along with other Mandalorians
@AustinSWE3 Жыл бұрын
I 100% get that, but you do realize he uses the force in almost every combat scene he has? He's going to be the next Mandalorian Force User, or perhaps even Mandalorian Jedi. In the new era of Mandalore, he is the Tarre Vizla. He is the one who has been trained as both, so even if he never ends up calling himself a Jedi, he is the closest thing to the new Tarre Vizla in the new age

No Grogu using his Force Powers for selfishness, like stealing cookies and spinning chairs for his own amusement. He could become Mandalore the Green. Using the Madalorians to conquer the Galaxy while they revere Grogu as a god. I could see making him the ultimate Sith antagonist in the Star Wars Universe and a great redemption story!! Madalorian's have always aligned themselves with the Sith Empire whether willingly or not. So Grogu could be the next huge redemption story for Star Wars because if you make him YODA 2.0 it will be boring.

Honestly, I don't think he needs to turn to the dark side in order to have a different story from Yoda. The part that separates the two characters (among many) is that Grogu is a Mandalorian, and could very well be similar to Tarre Vizla in the new age of Mandalore

We'll probably never know exactly how many people have watched the show because with Disney's insistence on it being a Disney+ exclusive with only a very limited physical release that was only available in the USA, it's probably one of the most pirated shows of all time. I came late to The Mandalorian (after all 3 seasons were released) but was aware of "Baby Yoda" before that. I came to the show for Pedro Pascal but I stayed for Grogu (my biggest complaint about the show is that we don't get to see enough of Pedro's face acting -- I know it's not the point but most of the other Mandalorians take their helmets off all the time, why can't he? ... I digress). One thing that happily surprised me with Grogu (I'd only seen still images of him prior to watching the show) is that he's a literal baby. Having him only make the cutest baby sounds was a brilliant move from the creative team. He immediately instils that protective instinct in everyone watching (as well as Din Djarin himself). A character who could have been annoying is thereby just the cutest!

I'll admit, I'm pretty sure I started watching for the cute baby alien and Grogu is a huge reason why I continue to watch the show. That isn't to say he's all there is to the show, though, because it really is a fantastically written show that could stand on its own without Grogu... but when have you ever heard "no thank you, I prefer my cake without frosting" from someone who wasn't insane and/or an idiot? He's a core part of the show's lighter tone and makes that aspect of it work. Without it, I fear the show would be a bit too serious or perhaps even darker like Andor. That's not a problem, per se, and I like Andor, but also if I had to choose which one to keep, I wouldn't pick Andor, because no matter how good the writing and performances are for Andor, I like entertainment that is generally as lighthearted as it is interesting and the Mandalorian has that in droves. Andor mostly serves to make you sad or even a slight bit frustrated (but in a good way that you'd want from your entertainment), whereas with the Mandalorian it's mostly upbeat. Any moment that could be a bit of a downer is usually alleviated somewhat just by seeing Grogu's curious little face. Not saying every Disney+ Star Wars show or movie should be overwhelming us with cute characters, but... well... the Mandalorian brought us more Anzellans and it's honestly the cutest shit ever to see them interact with Grogu, so I'm gonna risk being on the wrong side of history and say I'd love more of that, please.

29:37 Force Push isn't a Dark Side technique. Did you think that writhing was it being strangled or something? Even if that technique existed in the canon, which we've never seen as Force Choking is a slow suffocation and nothing more, it's easy to attribute that to it just being a skittery monster. Odd assumption.
