As they started their journey overland, an Ottoman ship set sail from Crimea in the Black Sea, bringing female slaves as gifts for the Ottoman palace… On this ship was Alexandra La Rossa, the daughter of a Ukrainian Orthodox minister, taken away from her family and sold to the Crimean palace. She had no idea that she would become Hurrem, wife of Sultan Suleiman and mother of princes, ruling the empire with him through bloodshed and intrigue.
As Sultan Suleiman conquered the world, his great passion for Hurrem would clash with his love for and trust in his closest friend and advisor, Grand Vizier Pargali Ibrahim, all set against the backdrop of the tension between Christian Europe and the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century.

12:00 what that scene should’ve been was Mahidevran and Hurrem teaming up, vowing to leave the kids out of it and swearing to allow Mustafa and Mehmed to make their own decision regarding the tradition of slaying brothers who could contend the crown. Alas, No, just two bitter women still fighting over a guy, who in his capacity as a partner, shows an alarming lack of empathy.

Man, I kinda wish hurrem and mahidevran became friends. Their whole rivalry over suleiman is over, there’s no reason to keep dragging it out. I can see the ordeal with firuze being a thing they could’ve bonded over, like, hurrem finally sees mahidevrans side and genuinely tries to connect with her, her hatred of her thawing a bit in understanding. Maybe never quite FRIENDS, but come to a neutral point where they don’t attack each other constantly, as long as they leave each others children alone

When mahi beat up hurrem, hurrem fans: "mahi was evil. She hurt hurrem bad" And then they ignore this scene and all of the other scenes where hurrem hurt anyone who got closer to suleiman. And say "she did it to survive"

Not to excuse either actions, but, honestly, the reason why I count Mahidevran's as almost worse is that, while Firuze was deliberately seeking to antagonize Hürrem here, Hürrem did nothing to provoke a beating from Mahidevran, who actively sought her out and accosted her even as she tried to bow her head respectfully and pass by.

Hurrem did nothing to Mahidevran to deserve a beating. She bowed and tried to walk away. Firuse knowingly slept with Suleiman and even hid it from Hurrem. She deserves it 🤷🏾‍♀️
