that seems like a classic Gohan's behaviiour.... remember mystic/ultimate Gohan who had to step up because Goten couldn't get the job done? well.... he got absorbed and made Buu stronger. also Tien said that Gohan is alive, so he didn't fail yet, he can still buy them some time, but I doubt he has the mental fortitude to actually kill Goku. I know I am not fan-boying because adult Gohan is not my favorite character, Tien is, and I didn't say that Tien will 1 shot Goku with his improved Tribeam/Kikohu or something like that lol

This story immediately suffers from one big problem. As many hits as Goku has taken from extremely powerful beings I dont see how a hit from uub would somehow be "restore" his Sayian persona. I also dont see how he would be able to use the spirit bomb if at this point goku is now evil, let alone using it to forcibly syphon energy from others since as we have seen someone has to willingly give the energy for the spirit bomb. Would make more sense if this was a possessed Goku similar to Goku Black.
