Super sad, but it reminds me of what happens to an animal that feels like there is no escape from torment, it lies down and gives up. Not condoning it, but the glorification of sexual immorality has consequences. I have heard from many women who feel that saying yes is easier, because no carries with it the chance of rape. Rape is rare, but sadly it can happen in families, and I have heard this rationalization from many survivors as a first responder. To a normal person this sounds insane, but to someone who has been betrayed by those who were trusted to protect her, it is all too common. Many female adult film stars also talk about how on set they feel safe as when they say stop on set, the sex stops and this makes them feel empowered. Kinda makes you wonder what kind of life these women came from, to consider such basic consideration empowering. How we fix it, I have no suggestions, but the longer I live, the more I realize just how lucky I am to have had a family that protected me.

Boxing is a type of fighting in which milder or more serious traumatic brain injury is practically assured. The very idea of participating in unnecessary violence of boxing can equally be considered doing harm to oneself, for money, for attention, for an audience. Trauma is almost certain and Dissociation is the only way to tolerate the inevitable pain. A steely mindset is required to persevere through the difficulties and go through the boring training, all as sacrifices for the goal valued by the boxer. We don't ban boxing, we regulate it, we make rules about shorter rounds, we have a referee, we have medical teams to hand, we have physicians advising how to minimise harm, we have nutritionalists to advise on food, we have coaches, etc etc etc. She had many of the same things - a team of 9 Wmn helping & supporting her, including her own mother.

The problem is we as individuals are not great at making assessments about how to behave probably we receive a tremendous amount of input on what right and wrong are by gauging other people's reaction. Now this means that to be well adjusted you need to be surrounded by positive people. The Saudi Arabias tyranny was probably stated because there are some people who will NOT ever be well adjusted regardless of who they are surrounded and to get moral behavior out of the or behavior that won't actively ruin your world you have to tyrannize them. The reality is there's a small group of people in this world who need to be tyrannized in order to behave properly historically though we've been very very poor at figuring out who these people are and instead have chosen to either tyrannize everyone or tyrannize no one.
