I love your editing and writing. So well done. They don’t know about you yet. But they will. You have a future in doing this and you are on your way. For Rory and so many others talent is only one part of the equation when it comes to greatness. What all of these guys, Rory, Day, Speith, DJ, etc. is show they have the talent and have the mindset and mental fortitude to climb the mountain and dominant for a time, but to maintain dominance over decades is what makes true gods of golf. I still cheer for Rory and hope he gets his green jacket.

Holy shit little Rorys finish pose at 00:50 is exactly like his current finish. Natural talent from the start
@donaldschmidt29902 жыл бұрын
While Rory is clearly an epic talent, the golf woods is filled with prodigies of unrealized performance. One of the greatest was the brilliant Tom Weiskopf, who recently passed away. Weiskopfs talent was otherworldly, but his personal demons curtailed his meteoric rise. John Daly ranks as perhaps the greatest waste of talent in sports history. ANY SPORT! A walking addiction, Daly still managed to win two major championships. With zero focus. Others that didn't have the same drive and mean streak of a Tiger Woods include Davis Love III and Fred Couples. Back problems halted Freddy. While lack of a killer instinct derailed DL3. Many contemporaries said he should have been top dog in his era. What it comes down to is there are a number of factors that have to fall into place to reach true legend stature. Talent, hard work and an iron focus. The greatest simply think differently than everyone else. Even their gifted peers. Their goals are different. Therefore they achieve more. Tiger Woods said from the outset that he wanted to break Jack's records. Who says that? Certainly none of the other prodigal talents I've mentioned. They don't reach as high. Therefore they achieved less.

I thought he was gonna rule the roost and be huge. I accept he’s part of the elite and a great player but he has not really done what everyone thought he would do back in 2010/11. That fiasco with McDowels management was weird. It’s difficult to gauge the true impact of moving to Nike. Nowadays most people expect him to have one good round and come in the top 10. People also expect a below average round too. His trademark has become one of inconsistency. I am still a huge fan but he isn’t the player I thought he was. But if you measure success by money in the bank he’s there and he’s made it. But I thought he was the next Tiger or Jack and he obviously isn’t. That boat has sailed. But he can be in the same conversation as Seve or Faldo or Player perhaps which isn’t bad at all.
