Ronald:' Battery cells have dropped in price but home batteries have not' As usual he is the man telling it straight. I built 2kwh solar with 8kwh of batteries with charger/inverter for 7 grand au. The LifePo batteries cost $4500 and just a year later they can be had for $2500 for 12kw, so I could now do the same system with 30% more capacity for 5 grand au. I knew zero about electrical before I started my project and I can say that if you are fairly handy and motivated you can easily build an equivalent system to what the companies sell for 1/3 the price. Then payback is 3 to 5 years!

I guess to those who spend the time to exercise or go to the gym for cardio, the bike offers that as an all in one experience over commuting by car and later having to exercise.

Interesting and informative as ever Finn, but could you please adjust the volume level up a bit in future episodes? I had to crank my laptop's volume control up to maximum to hear you properly, and I'm using headphones. (And no, I'm not deaf and yes, I can hear other KZbin videos perfectly well at much lower levels.) Thanks.

I found this channel a few days ago and I’m bingeing all the videos! Love it! Thank you. You mentioned in this video about essential circuits. I’m planning building a new home and want to have a dedicated circuit for the fridge and a few more GPOs around the house. Ideally I’d like to power this circuit with grid or off grid solar battery setup or generator when required. I’m thinking the easiest way would be via a caravan style 15amp inlet with RCD and breaker. Would that be to code?
@SolarQuotes3 жыл бұрын
Generally you have separate breakers in your Switchboard that the essential circuits and the battery go through. When the grid goes down, the essential circuits stay powered by the batteries automatically and the other circuits go dark.

What does SQ think about having suburban batteries at every substation? Wouldn't that be a good way to soak up excess solar production and supply it back at night. No need to slug the existing residential solar home with export taxes. Does Ronald have the numbers to weigh that up?

I would like to see a battery comparison. Tesla seems to get a lot of subtle positive comments but nothing really said about say the LG. You did run a feature a couple of months ago as to what the installers said was the top 3 but I’d like to know what the differences are compared to prices.

hi and thanks for the great content. do you have an opinion on hydrogen as an energy bank. I live in the Arctic Circle and I would like to survive the winter on my own. annual consumption is 22mwh. heart in winter the sun doesn't shine for 4 months. my consumption during this period is approx. 8-10mwh. redflow battery technology is a new concept for me and I need to familiarize myself with it better.

Any idea of what power storage were the flow battery???

Each individual unit stores 10 kWh of energy. There are 28 units - so 280 kWh total.

I do enjoy watching this show but I do get annoyed when you release each segment individually over the coming weeks. Please don't. Either keep it as a whole show like you have here or release them as individual shows. Don't do both.

Thanks for the feedback. Food for thought.

@@SolarQuotes Please don't release the individual segments as stated above. The full show is good and enjoyable enough.
@BecPlumbe3 жыл бұрын
I think there’s a case for releasing the show as a playlist of the separate segments. Having things as separate videos makes it really easy for people to (a) see what info is on offer and (b) share / embed exactly the bit you want.
@adon86723 жыл бұрын
@@BecPlumbe I understand your point but each KZbin alert of the separate segments leads one to believe it's a new video. To me, the disappointment that follows the realisation that this is something one has watched before is difficult to express here. Perhaps as David proposed above they should release their contents as complete videos only or as separate segments but not both. Solarquotes may also consider asking viewers (via a pole) about the format(s) preferred by the majority.

Hahaha - "You're probably the sort of person who is quite happy to take coal power at night and not worry about future generations !" Well bloody said - game set match to these professed anti-battery "Greenies" in inverted commas ! Ronald had no come-back. This is what happens when number crunchers come up against someone who lives and operates in the real world.

How much do Tesla pay you to continually 'sell' their product. It seems they appeared in every segment in some capacity. Is this a genuine review for all batteries available to us consumers, or aimed to push Tesla PW? I am in the market for an Aust option.
@SolarQuotes3 жыл бұрын
Hi Aaron, We do not take any money from manufacturers, full stop. If you have not seen our many critical posts on Tesla since 2012, then have another look at the blog. In this episode, we show Redback, Redflow, LG, Mini, Specialized brands among others. There is a lot of stock footage of the Tesla on my house because.... that's what is on my house. The PW2 is also the best selling battery in Aus by a fair margin, and the most popular among our installers. If you want an Australian battery - we list them all here: www.solarquotes.com.au/battery-storage/comparison-table/
