After a night of singing, everyone woke up fresh, had a hearty breakfast of exotic veggies and smoked turkey bacon sandwiches.
Geared up for the days ride to ashvem beach, only 15kms away.
With too much time to spare, we all rode to anjuna cliff point.
Everybody taking pictures of the their bikes and themselves with the beautiful coconut palms and the vast arabian sea in the background.
At one point, while taking pictures, anil sirs parked karakte monkey fell off the cliff along with its load and landed 24 feet below in a loud thud that sent goose bumps down the spine of all.
We all looked at each other in disbelief.
When we took a look from above, we could see the karate monkey lying flat with front wheel fallen apart.
I walked slowly to the fallen bike and started inspecting the bicycle.
It was in no condition to ride.
We off loaded the luggage on the bike and got it up to the deck from where it had fallen.
Luckily supriy and me on the previous days ride had spotted a diamond back lying in a pile of bicycles stacked outside a bike mechanics shop. We took a u turn and met him and got his number.
The place was 7 kms on a different road in Nagva.
We dissasssembled the front callipers from the IS mount on the fork, so now atleast the wheels were rotating on pedaling. With one working brake, unalligned wobbly wheels and three gear ratios working, we loaded the bike again with all the luggage and I took a trial of the karate monkey. Anil and me swapped our bikes and all of us rode to Nagva. Ketan sir and supriy sir keeping me in between them to ensure nothing else went wrong as I rode the karate monkey like a drunken crab for 7 kilometres.
Salman bhai, the technician went on to repair the bike while we all had lunch at a restaurant close by.
The bike was repaired back to normal 99.99 percent.
If it was for any other bike frame but a Surly karate monke, it would have been the end of tour for Anil and may be all of us.
However, it was a miracle, we all pondered about the whole scenario in varied perspectives and started to ride towards ashvem.
We reached their at sunset and checked out a beautiful place called sea creek.
The riding distance might have been only 30 kms for the day, but everyone had seen a pack up of the tour in their minds and thoughts racing at high speeds of what could have been not a very good day, if it was not the rise of the fallen.
Hope you guys enjoy the video.
