Brilliant. I grew up with a Spectrum. It introduced me to computers and 28 years later I’m still in the world of IT and computer systems, all thanks to that initial Speccy

Great vid. I grew up in Spain where the Spectrum was also huge. Some Spanish games were brilliant!

I was an Atari 800XL nerd but have such fond memories of the Spectrum. Back when you really had to understand coding and hardware to make games.

Great video, but the lack of end music makes it seem like it's been truncated.

lol, These geezers hated the ZX Spectrum so I take anything they say now as an admission to the ZX spectrums sheer BRILLANCE and it was THE BE ALL AND END ALL OF THE HOME COMPUTER INDUSTRY as it ruled for YEARS!!. And to be honest, if this little beauty had not delved or indeed been created the "HOME" computer market would have undoubtedly been a different kettle of fish. The sheer freedom and different games produced set the benchmark for other capable programmers using ever more powerful computers to add and indeed create using more ram/CPU power, to illistrate and bring to life, fleshed out incarnations of earlier games would have been unheard of, so I take my hat off to all the previous talented programmers and still await a significant boundary-pushing game from the current 4.8ghz CPU 8 CORE 16 THREADS, 8g ram 11 GB GPU memory programmers and ASK Can you create a stir in the home computer market:) Sadly I rest my case.

You either know them personally, or you have links to sources that prove they hated the ZX Spectrum that you've conveniently forgotten to post.

Blocky C64 graphics.. Behave. As someone who had a Speccy and a C64, i preferred the Speccy any day.

Nautilus1972 - Each is their own. However, the Spectrum could not have been that bad considering that it was the most popular British commercial 8-bit home computer system throughout the 1980's and early 1990's. Also during this time, it was competing against it's two main 8-bit home computer rivals. the Amstrad CPC and the Commodore 64 and was doing just fine.

C64 had sprite limits and a really dour palette. The Speccy was a much better machine to program on, and its only flaws were the colour clash and beeper speaker - both solved in later editions of the machine.

@@nebularain3338 Sprite limits? Having 8 hardware sprites (which could be multiplexed) still doesnt stop you from doing software sprites like the speccy.

Spectrum has some amazing games though, if I could have only one of those computers along with some games to play while I was stranded on a desert island, I might choose the Spectrum despite its crummy specs.
