I actually lived in Goonew neighborhood while he was a teen, for my first adult apartment after moving from uptown. I thought the neighborhood was sweet but that’s because I’m coming from uptown and I wasn’t really hip to Maryland and they politics. It wasn’t until I left that I learned the neighborhood was dangerous lol. With DC I would say if you from the hood in dc it’s hard sometimes to register the hood in Maryland in your mind mentally if you wasn’t out there all the time.

I lived all around MD but I was in PG county for awhile in a place called Mount Rainer, pretty much on the border of DC. My take on MD if you aint the type of person who loiters or stands around outside all day you dont got issues. Of course anywhere you live you could become a victim but if you just living working a 9 to 5 you good. Its ppl thats out a weird hours usually or who just loiter around that get caught in shit sometimes. When I was living in PG I got notices from the apartment about carjackings and them telling you to park near lights. There was armed robberies but I never seen anything myself, even when I use to hotbox alone in my car all the time.I assumed this stuff was being done by ppl coming from DC lol. I was paying $798 for a studio apt there.

Same I lived in this same neighborhood as Goonew for about a year paid about $980 for a 1 bedroom. Used the same BP for gas I never knew it was the hood, because it didn’t have the look like when I lived in DC. I ended up moving to Arlington and it was after moving to VA that I learned that area was “dangerous”. I was in college though, so I was pretty much just going to work, and going to class and coming home and playing 2k. So to your point. If you’re minding your business you’ll be fine.

And I was working from 3 pm to 11pm so I was either in class, at work, or hanging out uptown I just came home to sleep, chill, and be in the house. So yeah I was green to everything going there. It’s not like I was posted up or trynna pretend like it’s my hood or nothing like that.
