Time changes are so hard for me. If i was sight seeing that in an audition id run out dramatically. as a violist i think band kids have an edge over orchestra kids when it comes to counting hard stuff.

I used to have a lot of trouble with that too. I mean I was really bad that way. So I practiced and practiced music like that. I went measure by measure if I had to: first just figuring it out without playing, then playing it very slowly, and also looping it by playing a measure or a phrase over and over with a beat or two in between. I just picked each piece apart piece by piece. I got better. A lot better. I did that with many many pieces like that. If I could do it, you probably can too. I used to think it was totally beyond me. Now I am able to figure out Eliot Carter. His music is very complex.

@@greenguy5294 It doesn't sound good with a crescendo, nor vibrato. It's the musician being effusive. Stravinsky was a very clean cut guy, and that needs to be reflected in his music.
