I was out doing some bass fishing when I came across a school of channel catfish. I didn't have any catfish gear with so I had to make do with what I had and find some bait to take advantage of the situation!

Frog tip: bullfrogs will hit a lure if you dangle it in front of their faces. Something like a small, brightly colored rooster tail is ideal. Don't know if you have bullfrogs up north, but it's an easy way to catch some.

Im amazed at how natural the banks in most american rivers are. Here in germany most rivers are either straightened, or have massive rocks on the bank. It just looks unnatural and really ugly lmao.

Luckily I paddled by that island earlier and saw a ton of frogs so I knew I’d find some bait there. I should really put a small box of tackle together to keep in my kayak for catfish, panfish and anything else I occasionally come across a school of. I remember finding a school of crappies a couple years ago and having to throw bitsy bug jigs at them lol.

@junk2505 жыл бұрын
Love this Channel, when I learned to fish a long time ago you went to a creek with a few hooks and split shot with no lures or bait. But you had some type of 2-3 ft seine to catch some bait and if you have a hellgramite or leeches or craws on a hook it was guaranteed success. You should seine some awesome bait from the beautiful creeks you fish

I could have probably got a couple of them to hit a lure. I’m pretty sure they were in that area feeding on all those shiner minnows schooled up in that weed bed. The catfish on this river act a lot like bass at times. I’ve caught them on just about everything I throw at smallmouth, even topwater lures!
