Cheers 1SQN, that was a great piece of work. It was fantastic to see the old footage of the Dump & Burn as well. Myself and Al flew the first Riverfire, then called the FM104 Skyfire back in 1987. When we lit up the Dump & Burn the whole place turned orange, from inside the jet it was special, from outside on the river it must of been crazy. 37 years on this old guy is still stoked watching the new generation do their work. Stay safe. Ex-XO 6 SQN…..

This is certainly the dream for the youth of Australia and people who want to join the RAAF. It is sensational to watch those fast jets fly and it is something one should never forget. Mark my words, I'll be up there one day I hope. Keep making videos like this it is so very inspiring. Thank you!❤😄

Keep going, put forth the effort nothing comes from the feeling of entitlement- you have to earn it. So when you feel like giving up keep the determination up and just keep on going and you will get there. All it comes down to is consistency and that's one of the key messages in this video, and one of the main ingredients to succeed in life with anything you do.

@@aviationphotographydigest Takes a whole lot of effort and determination, with my few years left I'll make sure to keep looking up and keeping the dream alive working as hard as I can to someday get there.

Hopefully one day, Western Australia will see combat units based at RAAF Pearce once again. Over confident Eastern Australians don't understand how undefended the entire West coast is. If an invasion were ever to occur, this is where it will happen.

Very cool. Why do WSOs wear wings when they’re not pilots?
@gcm7473 ай бұрын
All RAAF commissioned officers in aircrew positions wear full wings but the style differs. Non-commissioned officers in aircrew positions wear half wings.

Biggest crime the AF did was retire the F1-11
@RykerRider463 ай бұрын
The F111 was too old and was becoming too expensive for the RAAF to keep operating.

Also wouldn't last 5 minutes in the modern battle space. Its strengths of low and fast strike beneath the radar are no longer relevant with modern weapons systems. It would be too expoed and unable top defend itself which became apparent in the Iraq war when enemy aircraft were in the area. It's all about stealth and the electromagnetic spectrum now.

But if you're sitting height is over a metre like mine is then forget it. All your hopes and dreams gone in an instant.

Or go fly the big jets, having flown in the 36SQN C-17 we can guarantee you'll probably love it more especially down low.

@@aviationphotographydigest Height restrictions are related on the training aircraft, such as the Pilatus PC-9 in my case. It has nothing to do with what aircraft you are potentially assigned to afterwards. The sitting height restriction has been lowered again by 5cm bringing it down to 95cm for the current Pilatus variant the PC-21.
