I loved this interview for 1. I’ve been thinking about doing hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and been on the fence, but this helped me take one more step mentally toward doing it! And 2. I absolutely love how Nicky so matter-of-factly states that being perfectionist is no way to live your life, and that being easier on yourself is a life upgrade. I’ve found the same to be true. Go Nicky! Wishing you a beautiful and fruitful last leg of your recovery 🩷

Thank you for such a great video!! I have had long covid for 20 months and the best thing for me has definitely been to meditate, stop the perfectionism, and feel into the moment!! I have slowed down and am learning to enjoy the simple things!! I so relate with that anxiety, and the fight and flight automatically kicks in!! It is amazing how we all are awakening to the fact that it is our lifestyle that has put us here. I have been sick with fibromyalgia and CFS since I was 18. I did get to a point where I was handling things okay, but I still did not stop the constant self expectations on myself and never gave myself love or compassion! I still did not understand the concept of treating myself with gentle kindness. It was not until I started meditation AFTER I got long covid that I actually realized that I had never felt relaxed and out of the fight or flight mode. The first time I felt the shift into relaxation, I was addicted!! The peace and the stillness!! The stress that I had put on myself was finally coming to light...I am now almost 54!! I think it is about time that I stop the craziness with trying to do everything all the time!! I love the slow, simple life that I am living and learning and even though I am not recovered yet, I am enjoying the journey and I am confident I will get there one day!! You are both an inspiration to me and I loved laughing at our unrealistic expectations together. 😂 Nicky, May you find a full recovery and enjoy every moment of everything that you do...slowly and mindfully!! ❤ Raelan, thank you so much for all that you do to help us all!! Much love and gratitude ❤

@@nickywellman594 Thank you ❤ Yes, it seems that we have lived very similar lives, doesn't it? My recovery physically is very slow as it seems for everyone. The trial and error of that invisible line that is one thing too many from the day before. 🤷‍♀️ Mentally I do feel amazingly content with it, to my surprise! I always used to say, it is what it is, yet in reality I was not soaking that in. My mindset is now accepting it as just that, and I am good with whatever it brings and allowing space to just let it be! It feel like I am rejuvenated and finally on the right path, much like you describe! Keep smiling ❤

Very similar experience with a GI virus and never having been the same since! HBOT helped me with Long Covid as well, studies are showing its effectiveness for nervous system disorders. I’ve had to address gut and blood issues as wellz Definitely living a slower life in the future too. The millions of projects can get done better and with more joy by doing one at a time. No bragging anymore lol. Thanks for sharing this! We all have different stories and it’s so good to hear the various experiences. 💕

Thanks so much for interviewing somebody who is still on route and as you say relatable to. I really appreciate this as it can seem a bit excluding to not include those who have made significant progress too. Much appreciated.

Great interview. Thank you Raelan, thank you Nicky. One of the best actually. It seems very interesting to me that, although this was ostensibly a Covid recovery story much of the discussion was about stress and anxiety reduction.

I find it so interesting that in many success story videos on your channel and on the channels of many others that expose these success stories , it’s a large percentage of Europeans other then Americans. It’s just a curious coincidence.

I can explain why oxygen helps, a lot of autoimmune is caused by damage to mitochondria, the damage causes dysfunction of cellular and tissue oxygenation, this is why the body slowly malfunctions or has setbacks. I have incredible recovery from 1% pure tank oxygen, an IV hydration combined with either antibiotics or something that helps with reduction of inflammation, if Ive been hospitalized for 24 hours utilizing those things I can feel much better for about three months before relapsing hard. I do think if you can get this and be monitored for longer sessions I feel it must heal the dysfunction of mitochondria but no one seems to want to research that as a treatment. I did have a functional med doctor tell me oxygen was medicals little secret, it is insurances that regulates very few ways to get it. So we suffer for it. I call it heaven.

I loved this interview. Thanks so much. I'm still navigating my own recovery. We definitely all end up on a huge transition and everything becomes your teacher. Fear is heightened initially so we have to adapt. Yoga, self hypnosis, meditation and tapping EFT. I'm still learning to PACE which I agree needs to be stress free and not another thing to add to the to do list. Silent meditation is best so the healing can come in without side stimulus. We will heal eventually ❤

Thank you for posting this interview Raelan and sharing your experience Nicky. I also have LC and was in bed for 18-20 hours a day. For the last 3 mos I have implemented a three pronged approach and something has clicked, I am up out of bed and walking around my neighborhood and starting to enjoy life in a different way. Thank you for sharing ladies. It is comforting to know that other people understand and appreciate the hard work it takes to piece a new life back together. **11mos long Covid and history of asthma with a chronic cough.

Raelan, another brilliant helpful interview. I just started taking anti-histamine as well and it seems to help. I need more time to assess… but I wanted to say: whatever you’ve been doing to those arms and shoulders, keep doing it! Looking buff! It makes me really look forward to being able to go back to the gym asap!

I very much relate to changing into new habits as we heal. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that so many sufferers are ‘go- getter’ types. I’m listening to my body asking me to please do life at a gentler pace. I finally got that message after my last crash. I have to heal my approach to life in order to heal my physical health. Tend to the nervous system!! It’s not an easy re learning- constantly have to remind myself I DO need that arvo rest/meditation.

This is so resonating. Thank you very much for this interview. I myself am also a perfectionist, always pushing and then forced to months in bed by Long Covid. Currently after 7 months I am slowly progressing. Big Gamechanger to me is the prescription of LDA which is giving me the energy for vagus nerve and breath exercises. This is helping me a lot besides meditation and pacing. Like Nicky I found precious informations in your videos. I am very grateful!

Hi Nicky...im not far away from you. Still struggling with long covid after 16 months. Still trying to find my way through this puzzle and what works for me. Did you find the Long covid clinic in Exeter helpful ?
@nickywellman594
@nickywellman594 Жыл бұрын
Hi Tess, sorry to hear you’re still struggling, I’ve not been to LC clinic in Exeter as I only just had a referral about 2mths ago when I went back to the Doctors after another relapse, my GP wasn’t very helpful when I went a year prior so I’d left it quite a longtime before I went back again. I have just done the hope program online recently, which I presuming is similar to the LC clinic. But to be honest I got most the help from Raelan’s channel and the stories here, also the comment section is always very helpful. I do hope you can start to feel better soon ❤

@@tessreynolds6356 Thanks Tess, I have recovered from the last relapse thank you and I totally agree about the hope program. I didn't complete the last two segments of the course and skipped through parts of the others. It was quite intense and overwhelming! The free Nuffield health group course, you can find online, I found better. More geared to your personal recovery and you have weekly meetings with a physio mentor. Thanks Nicky x

A lot of people had the severe version of covid around March 2020 because lockdown was late. I think that might be related.
@alicequayle4625
@alicequayle4625 Жыл бұрын
@@djVania08 think it's more a matter of symptoms. The ONS office of national statistics counts long covid numbers by people having the symptoms rather than official diagnosis. As many GPS don't like to diagnose it. A lot of people have had the symptoms but their GPs etc call it anxiety.

It’s probably also cause on English speaking KZbin channels people from English speaking countries tend to be overrepresented. There are some 60 million people in the UK, which is about the same as Canada, Australia and New Zealand combined.
