Just heard of the medallion architecture now. I should check it out

Yes! Medallion architecture is extremely important, especially in organizations that are cloud first. While no two businesses may implement it perfectly, every time, the concepts stand.

@@GambillDataEngineering I do have one question. I'm transitioning from a non-data career to data analytics with the hope of eventually transitioning into data engineering once I have some experience under my belt. Would you add/change anything about this list for someone wanting to get into data who does not have a bachelor's degree?
@GambillDataEngineering6 ай бұрын
I didn't have my degrees until I had been doing it for about 10 years. So no worries. I'd follow the path you outlined and look for some projects that interest you that you can learn with. Hit me up on either email or another social and I'm happy to help you along the way!

Aws or azure which cloud to learn?
@GambillDataEngineering3 ай бұрын
My recommendation would be to research the companies you are interested in applying to in the future and learn the platform they use. My experience is that Azure is about 70% and AWS is about 20% and then Other/GCP is the remainder.

How about Databricks instead of Snowflake ?
@GambillDataEngineering6 ай бұрын
@sathishraj1 I do like databricks and delta lake. I need to double check costs. Both can escalate quickly with the scaling. There's some cost management that has to go on either way. I like databricks for the spark and parallelism.

How much a data engineer makes ?
@GambillDataEngineering4 ай бұрын
Great question! Data engineer salaries vary based on experience, location, and industry. Entry-level roles typically start around $70K-$90K, while mid-level engineers earn $90K-$140K. Senior roles can go $150K+ with bonuses or equity in tech and finance industries. It's a rewarding field with lots of growth potential!
