I'd love to see Withers trash talk Vecna... "-Oh yes, I have heard of you. For a god of secrets, word of you certainly gets around."

Vecna is iconic because his adventures were always made by TSR as the end all adventures for the DM's world, the "advengers end game" of the campaign world if you will. The Writers at TSR also handwaved a lot of stuff that Vecna could achieve in the adventures, so he had gained a reputation as the most powerful and sinister villain in dnd history, The adventures had a lot of plot holes and were very rail roaded, (a lot like the thanos advenger movie) but the scope of the adventures were unheard of at the time: A villain so great he can change the cosmos?! And our group is the only ones who can stop him?! Sign us up! And thus, through 2 adventures, Vecna became the ultimate big bad in dnd....

1:47 Sigil is NOT a “land of gods.” Gods are specifically NOT ALLOWED to enter Sigil. It’s a city at the center of the multiverse with a bunch of portals.

I think of Vecna as like... the British Museum personified. He'd practically OOZE academic snobbery, speaking slowly and methodically, dangling secrets in front of all-too-eager mortals because he knows his time is infinite as both lich and god, but THEY need that knowledge NOW. My DM also regards him as the God of Undeath, the worst thorn in the side of the Raven Queen. He's evil because it's fun to him and he seeks more power because he wants to learn more, and the more he learns, the more he can use information as leverage. He never lies because he knows all too well that a truth in the wrong hands can do far more damage than any lie ever told. After all, what question could be more enticing as "Would you like to know more?"

Now I want to know how you make Vecna the scarriest lich of Dnd

“Do you have any idea the amount of power I would have to give up to be a God” Vecna, probably Great video, very funny, but in the interest of being a pedantic nerd I need to highlight a couple things you missed XD - Vecna Reborn where he tries to get a cultist to make him into a baby - Sigil has no gods, gods that try and mess with Sigil are murdered by the Lady of Pain

we appreciate the respectfully pedantic here. Sigil is a bit of a blind spot for me, a bit embarrassing too cus every other lore nerd I meet has something to say about it.

What about the legendary head of Vecna?

I don't want to pry into Vecna's personal life, what he does behind closed doors is all his own

Vecna never had great writers at any point he had adventures written about him, Vecna lives wasn't great, die Vecna die wasn't great, and Eve o ruin is just another piece of the deal Sunday with great writing from writers who knew what they were doing, he could be the greatest villain ever, I like to run Vecna like his personality is a lot like Griffith from berserk, Griffith is just like vecna, he makes a lot of very powerful friends because his ambitions and dreams of attaining a kingdom of his own inspires those around him to fallow him in his dreams. Thus I see kas like guts, he realizes he lives in the shadow of the dreams of someone far greater than him and thus want to attain his own dreams....I like berserk I guess lol!

Szazz Tam is a far more interesting Lich than Vecna. Has a far more cohesive history too.

right! and you get a clear idea of what he is about. He has this whole evil puppet master thing going on. He has a great bit in the forgotten realms books where he manipulates his subordinates into fighting eachother.
