Most of us loved "The Commitment's" movie. The movie shot Andrew Strong (Deco) to worldwide stardom, he was only 17 when he made the movie but he had an amazing influence from his dad, Rob Strong (& The Rockets) I had the pleasure of seeing them live in Belfast City Centre when I was pretty young which really encouraged me to throw myself into music.

I saw Rob Strong in Astoria Ballroom Bundoran 1970 with the Plattermen. I've never forgotten that night. I was 15 years old and I was blown away .. but was it really that good? It's always nice to have your memories confirmed ... this guy was and is something special

Personally my favorite songs Rob performed, were Farewell to Harlem, Love is Not for Me, Don't Do it For Love, Nut Bush City Limits and We've Got To Night. Great Singer one of the best!

Rob Strong ..remember him doing the dance halls (Redbarn - Youghal in particular) back in the 70s ..absolutely amazing and one of his great numbers Mustang Sally ..those were the days
