Very well done my friend 🤩. I had not heard this story before and found it fascinating. In my youth I worked as a Gravedigger for a number of years and witnessed several incidents that are only believable to those with open minds. I was on my own each time and whenever I’ve told my tales I am often dismissed as a Crank or the listener tries very hard to find alternative reasons to what I’ve witnessed. I’ve found sticking to the facts and not saying it’s Proof of an Afterlife or Alternative Reality, but instead allow the person listening to the account to make up there own minds. Also try not to get into an argument with the people who think I’m talking a lot of Rubbish. Brilliant presentation my friend I am envious of your talent and look forward to seeing more from you. Take it easy Brother 👍.

Can you tell us some of the things that happened? My parents told me of a time they went to pay respects to a relatives grave. It was late in the day just before dark and the grounds keeper was just about to lock the gates as they arrived, but being a kind man he said go ahead I can wait. They went through towards the area the gravestone was, as they walked down my mother noticed a figure in the distance ( about 100 yards away) standing, looking and sometimes kneeling at a grave stone and said to my dad " he nearly got locked in the cemetery, that's an interesting outfit, nice top hat!". They both observed and approved of the old victorian style clothes the man had on with a large top hat and then carried on across to the location. So as they head back up they say to the grounds keeper there was someone els in there, has he left already?. No it's just you, I do a check round and there is no way I could miss someone, its 1 way in and out etc.. They both were like well we assure you someone was over that side 10 minutes ago. So he goes to check and sure enough, nobody is there. It wasn't a shadowed figure or partly transparent or anything. Just a man paying respects is all they thought as they passed him.

Beautiful graphics. St Andrews CoS Church was derelict for decades but Grade II Listed as is the Mckenzie Tomb. Liverpool John Moore's Uni has acquired a number of handsome old buildings in the vicinity, indeed the V-C's office is on the opposite side of Rodney Street to the church. The Uni eventually got consent from the CoS to take it over and a Heritage England grant to rebuild and furnish it , one of the facade cupolas had disintegrated, and it is now a teaching department of the Uni.

Apparently (it's my grandads story that was told to me by my Nan so there might be some embellishment or straight up lies but I don't know), my grandad actually met that ghost. Apparently as my grandad was walking home from work one night, he sees this man walking down the street in old clothing, now this being October he thinks it to be a man in fancy dress coming or going to a party one night. So my grandad greets the man, who tips his hat and says something along the lines of "Good evening young man", my grandad thought nothing of it until the man proceeded to walk through a wall, absolutely confusing and terrifying my grandad who then proceeded to run home, which was quite a far distance so he must've been terrified. I don't actually know if that was that ghost, but I'm told it was for some reason. Like I'm skeptical because like the tomb seems to be quite far from Woolton from what I remember anyway.

It's funny how history repeats itself. The Romans also got swept up in 'Egyptomania' after they conquered the country and to this day there's a big (over 30 metres tall) pyramid in Rome built as a tomb for a wealthy Roman called Cestius. In modern times, Nicholas Cage has built a small pyramid in a New Orleans cemetary to be buried in when he eventually goes. Liverpool's pyramid may be small, but it's one of my favourites. Good video- the ghost story is really well told, and it's good to have the mythbusting section at the end with the actual facts.

Thank you Roderick. I was certainly curious to see what might be inside. Apparently, it's completely empty. I heard that someone slid a fibre-optic camera through a small gap a few years ago. Kinda disappointing. After going through so much effort and expense to construct a 15-foot pyramid tomb, I would have expected at the very least a few of Mackenzie's personal artifacts.

McKenzie's assumption that he was talking to the devil disproves that he was a "staunch atheist". By definition. The legend about his winning hand is such a good story, I want it to be true.

Doesn’t disprove anything although admittedly, this is probably just a story. If a staunch atheist witnessed something that was not explainable by science I think a lot of atheists would maybe stop being so staunch, if not atheists altogether. What’s the phrase? There are no atheists in foxholes?

Did you ever read any Tom Slemen books? The first 10 (ish) haunted Liverpool books are filled with similar stories. Not that you're only focusing on Liverpool, but I remember hearing this story from him back in the early 2000's. I used to love driving past this and telling people the story. But those AI pics really brought it to life. They looked so good

It was Tom's "Rodney Street Spectre" story that inspired me to make my own visual adaptation of the local legend. I've not delved into his other work, but I loved his particular take on this tale. Glad you liked the visuals.

Been there many times, very interesting piece of history sadly frequently passed by without a second glance by many. Unfortunately / Fortunately (depending on point of view), I've never had an encounter with Mr. William McKenzie.

I done a story of this when I was in college. I heard a story of 2 drunken women who seen Mackeney ghost, they scrramed and ran off and he ran back into his tomb. The other graves was dug up as there was a digger there but close to a halt as they found baby remains in another person grave.

Is the art in your videos original? Even if it's not, BRAVO! You are taking the time to find period correct artwork (or creating it) and not filling your video with pathetic "stock footage"! Many channels have gone that route, and I now despise even the first glimpse of stock footage! I am (however) thinking of getting into the stock footage business! It seems to dominate every channels today. I applaud the effort, and if the art work is yours, you are extremely talented! I've watched them all! Now what do I do? I guess I'll have to sit through more videos with people in bad costumes acting situations out poorly! Cheers mate!

Thanks mate. Although, I do have an art and design background, it wouldn't be viable for me to create dozens of images from scratch for KZbin videos. Not unless I only plan on posting once a year 😂. Luckily, there's decent A.I. image software (which I used) to help speed up the process and avoid going down the stock footage route. Like you, I'm also not a fan of soulless stock footage productions, even though I've been forced to sprinkle some in when there's no other alternative.

@@historiusmaximus That is a respectable, and acceptable answer. Keep doing it the way you're doing it! It is setting the correct tone for every video, which shows that you care about the presentation! If the AI is streamlining the process while not compromising the quality, you have a combination that works! I like your "Ringo" voice, so you've got a good combination working for you. I'm looking forward to whatever you do next. Your shorts are good too! Cheers mate!
