Eren always had the look of someone desperate to know if there really was another way. It can be realised through his reactions and expressions and is clear in the manga. He took the time to listen to Tybur's speech, when he could've struck earlier, but he didn't. He hoped at a little that Willy wouldn't declare war...

Regarding Tybur‘s lie about Eren being able to use the founding titan. It is possible that Willy wasn‘t actively lying but actually thought that he can use it. Reiner is the only remaining witness and from his perspective Eren was just randomly being able to use it. He has probably reported it like that. Doesn‘t matter in the grand scheme of things but at least Willy didn‘t go out as a liar.

I think that "Perspective" is one of the most fundamental and important themes of Attack on Titan. 👁️In other words, if you change your position or perspective, the same history, story, and even good and evil can become completely different. i would say, Bertholdt was still reluctant. It needed Reiner n Zeke to motivate him to max, for him to reach that point. It wasn't natural to him, he was nurtured to that mode. It's more like Reiner at episode 2x6. He knows there are good people here, but he will still go through the mission, because that's what he wants for himself naturally... (Bertholdt followed Reiner there) It's nature vs nurture... Reiner n Eren are alike bcoz of their nature of how they were born

Because the world... is that cruel..." At that time he wasn't relying on anyone and it was a beautiful moment. Bertolt and Eren aren't as much alike like Reiner and Eren but the moment is what I'm referring to. Bertolt says those words and proceeds to blast shiganshina, Eren proceeds to blast through the building of civilians

Total misread from Rowan on Eren saying that he "only vaguely remembers saying something like that." Eren isn't lying-he's saying, "oh right, I used to be an impulsive, brash little kid who didn't know anything and said I'd torture and kill these people for what they did. But now, I understand that maybe they were just trying to save the world because they'd been brainwashed, and maybe even Reiner did it for selfish personal reasons. I understand that now, and no longer want to kill these people out of some misplaced sense of personal revenge." It makes you think, "oh, is he really going to forgive Reiner now? Now that he understands him?" and really, he does-but Eren is now willing to kill people he's forgiven with zero hesitation if it lets him move forward toward his own goals. His saying this is basically what Bert says in S3: "it's not personal, but this still needs to happen." The difference is that Bert thought it needed to happen to save the world, whereas Eren thinks it needs to happen because of his own personal motivations.

AOT is a good series to start in anime (I went that way myself), but you're right, there hasn't been a series or anime that has had me THAT invested in the story, at most Berserk (manga) and maybe Peaky Blinders.

@daniaaal bruh I've watched this show a couple of times, and even the first time I watched it...I didn't feel an ounce of rage from eren. That's why even on my first watch I ruled out revenge for erens actions. He just felt too stoic and different from earlier seasons

@@daniaaal I would say it is not rage (since we saw multiple times) nor level-headed, but as he puts it.... he had no choice , he did not want to do this but it is for saving humanity. He even said, he had to move forward, he does not want to kill them, any people with lots of revenge inside will feel that they deserve what is coming but as he said... there are good people too, but he still carry even though he has no rage against these good people that live there too. I would think level-headed would mean he is OK with his decision and have no regrets, but why would he call Reiner at this moment and tell everything? As in need of judgement , or validation , trying to convince himself that there are reasons that people use that could justify this if he was. We can even know more about his state of mind when we learn how the 4 years went. And the beauty of how this is shown... that when they say "Humanity" that should have a universal meaning and used as a cause, but when it is used in this episode (and many times in real world) is used as an excuse for something selfish or just in a somewhat narrowed down way. Selfish in a way like , you do it because it affects you in some way and not many people act just for the sake of other people they have no link or connection with. In a way, this contradiction also presented itself the other way around with Historia on the cave.. She was asked to do something for the good of all people in Paradis, to eat Eren, but she said NO, and didn't care if she may be the most selfish person that existed (in the light of others). And she later dedicated herself to aid children she did not even know without nothing in return, so in a way Historia may be the most selfless person we have ever seen in the show. This kind of goes the same in the line on what Isayama likes to show many times with Armin and Annie about who is a "good person" in which Armin states "to me", realistically showing many people use subjective values and influences and have different views on what is a "good person".

AoT is the perfect anime to start with IF you're into rich storytelling. So, usually, it's an easy transition for people who enjoy shows like GoT. It all depends on what the watcher would enjoy outside of anime.

About the discussion at the beginning: Aot is probably one of the best Animes to start because it doens't contain a lot of the anime 'tropes' that anime viewers are used to. It's a show that takes itself seriously. So the only 'strange' factor is the animation and the japanese language if you are not watching in dub. Death Note is usually another one recommended for the same reason. One Punch Man, even though it's very good and you would probably enjoy it, makes fun on a lot of those anime tropes, so you probably wouldn't get those jokes.

I wish isayama had eren drinking coffee when Reiner and falco walked in, and was sipping it throughout their discussion. It would have made sense as to why eren was so strong and able to transform multiple times this time. It would also explain why the Marley warriors were not as strong this time, because they were tired and not prepared for a fight at night. Coffee would have helped them wake up 🤣🤣 EREN obtaining a coffee addiction would’ve also just been very funny and in character for him. Coffee was what gave beartold and Reiner and Zeke a boost during the RTS arc, and would’ve made a good call back.

There are better examples of the genre of 'Anime'. AoT transcends the genre, in my opinion. It is not a great first anime to show someone, if they are committed to delving into the genre, because the tone and story telling is not a great example of what most anime are. Death note would be my example of a good first anime for a beginner. However, if you only ever watch a single anime, this is the one. It is a good show, without most of the anime tropes (don't get me wrong, there still are a few of those), that can be uttered in the same breath as the best shows of all time.

Love how discretely n damningly the Final season outplays most watchers. Helos being a "hollow" statue, the baseball kit besides 'Kruger' & the baseball man co-ercing n leading Reiner into the trap ...
