At least they buy/sell watches. You instead say you do so, but when people contact you you ignore them for weeks. Extremely unprofessional.

Rolex introduced CPO at a really bad time, when the market was dropping. I do see the value in CPO with Rolex fully servicing and adding a 2 year warranty to the watch, but the issue is that ADs are not moving the process in line with market price. Some other KZbinr, Brendon something, did a video on CPO basically saying they mark up a certain % based on price they bought it for. He gave an example of 2 near identical explorers, sitting next to each other at selfridges. They were selling at like 4 or 5 k difference. All because the buy in price was different. They are not moving their prices with the market - maybe because the ADs reduce to take an L on some of the stock they bought in 2022 / 2023.

Was in Vegas Dec 2023. Went to 5 ADs to buy a RootBeer. None of them would sell me one. I was offered a CPO RootBeer for 27k. 27k for a 16k watch. I literally laughed in the guys face.

Let me first say, why should Rolex sell their watches for prices that a grey dealer charges? Why should they drive and control prices!? Secondly, buying a watch from CPO gives buyers peace of mind in a world of super clones.

Absolutely......I went into Michael Spiers in Plymouth as they said they would buy a couple of watches from me for the Rolex Certified Pre-Owned.......they offered me £5k for a full set 1991 16613......and £6750 for a 2019 126334......I told them to get stuffed and walked out.

I guess people want to go through a certified official channel (with aftercare) when dropping 10s of thousands rather than parting with that money with a guy rocking up at a train station / coffee shop in a backpack.

It’s definitely not helping anyone charging almost triple the retail value. CPO will come down at some point. Most of them are sitting. 😢

If its certified it goes back to the manufacturer for a full overhaul, plus a new warrantee from the manufacturer, there's value in that.

Rolex CPO authenticates and services the watch. They sell those watches through their ADs. You get a fully serviced genuine watch with a 2 year guarantee. Who wouldn’t want that peace of mind?.. If you buy at the price they sell that’s on you to do the research. Personally I believe small grey dealers are now at a crossroads where they need to discredit CPO in order to keep themselves in business. It’s a fact that the CPO has carved a nice slice out of the second hand market and are deflating prices for some of their models. Discrediting CPO is discrediting Rolex.

Honestly the fact that you know you are getting a real rolex with absolutely no hang ups and getting the one you want without any pre buying history it’s really not that bad. You get an in person experience also.

Thankfully I was able to get my CPO Rolex Sub at retail, no grey dealer mark ups.

I take your point but they aren't forcing people to buy them. If they are priced way above the market price then they'll likely just sit there. There is definitely a premium to be paid for some people to buy from CPO but yes this is way above. I don't imagine it will sell at that price even to an unsuspecting customer.

The CPO program is not robbing people, it’s giving people peace of mind that the watch they are buying is genuine and peace of mind costs money. As they say , buy the dealer, would I buy a watch from a backpack trader working from his home , or a bit rented office space ? No , if the watch breaks then what warranty does a backpack dealer offer or will the backpack dealer be even in business or more likely back on the fries at McDonald’s. I’ve bought from a grey dealer but he owns his own shop , has been trading from it for 30 years

@gaffs829 ай бұрын
It’s a watch. If it “breaks” you send it for service.
@samuelburton55769 ай бұрын
I agree. Also most grey dealers open the watch to inspect, which invalidates the watch. Then Rolex decides not to service it if there is an issue because it's been opened by an unauthorized individual. That means you have to take it back to the grey dealer who would service it with maybe inauthentic parts and not to the standards of Rolex. Too much risk. Spend the extra money to avoid headaches down the line.

You can literally get a watch certified genuine at any reputable watchmaker for like £50 lmao stop being such a bootlicker omg what is with people. So you’re telling me the cost of peace of mind and verification is 40k over the market price 😂
@HKNYN19 ай бұрын
This comment just tells me you’ve never owned or bought a luxury watch in your life. If the watch breaks the warranty is from the manufacturer not the dealer if still under warranty and if it’s not you get it serviced by the manufacturer so what are you on about

Is there any chance in hell I'd get 13k (or even just retail) for a brand new 2024 Datejust Wimbledon, fluted, jubilee, yellow gold and steel? I bought it for 12.7k and kinda unsure I actually want it now.

You sing to be very new to this young man. I wasn't watch dealer for 17 years and quit 2021. I'm asking price and the actual selling price is extremely rarely the same price tag (only a fool who knows absolutely nothing about the watch market and watch industry would pay the full asking price for a pre-owned watch). Asking price is always open for negotiation. But I have to add that 60,000 price tag was completely ridiculous and blew my mind LMAO. It's the most ridiculous price I have seen in years
