In the late 1970s I was standing in line to ride a new roller coaster at Six Flags over Texas. Behind me were two elderly gentlemen in suits. I heard one of them say to the other, I can’t believe you designed this and you’ve never ridden on a roller coaster. The other man replied, in a thick German accent, “It is all based on physics .”

I knew I was finally finished with breast cancer treatment when my surgeon happily gave me the okay to ride roller coasters. After six surgeries, it had taken me months to regain my upper body strength and mobility. For my next birthday, my husband and I drove from Massachusetts to Cedar Point Park in Ohio. We bought the fast pass wristbands, and I rode the coasters there at least 20 times. Best Birthday Ever.

I will always highly recommend Cedar Point in Sandusky Ohio which has so many great roller coasters.

I always hated roller coasters because they gave me a massive headache. I'd go again and again because my friends (or kids) were enjoying themselves. It wasn't until I was in my 30's that I had my first seizure and learned I had epilepsy, which is why coasters were so painful.

Montage Russe is still the French for roller coaster. I used to love going on them with my dad. (I grew up about 3 miles from a seaside fairground. Many a summer hour was spent there!) Unfortunately I developed vertigo and since then, I can't go on them. I can't go up any heights of significance (more than about 3 storeys) without getting an attack! But then I can get one in my sleep 🤷🏻‍♀️ Vertigo isn't a synonym for fear of heights, but the symptoms are very similar.

WOAH WOAH WOAH. The whole claim of the Moonsault Scramble's height record is in dispute because while the towers are indeed over 200 feet, the ride vehicle itself didn't break the 200 foot mark, stopping at 195 feet up the tower. Which is why many enthusiast groups still Consider Magnum XL-200 at Cedar Point as the first roller coaster to go actually over 200 feet.

I fully expected this video to start high but go downhill from there. Sure there were some ups and downs but did had a few good twists.

Where I live there was a small amusement park. It had one of the last wooden coasters in America. It wasn't all that big mind you but, alot of people went for the nostalgia factor. It was ultimately shut dow after a maintenance worker was decapitated during I think was a test run. It didn't take long for the park to close permanently afterwards. As for me and roller coasters? I've never ridden one and never will. Why? I have no need for any extra adrenaline or endorphins. I hate negative Gs, I hate being upside down. I have always been immune to peer pressure when it comes to "Thrill" rides. No, nope, no way, Nyet, negative, after I'm dead maybe. It just seems counter intuitive to allow your body and mind to be put through those physical and psychological bextremes.

About 4 people a year die on roller coasters in the United States. If I ever decide it would be fun to unnecessarily risk my life, I'll probably just run through the trailer park yelling, "Lynyrd Skynyrd sucks!"

@@Fluffy_Coasters Oh, not much point, just personal preference. Of course, a lot more people ride in cars than on roller coasters, and I think yelling "Lynyrd Skynyrd sucks!" might be more dangerous than either of them.

I am a 60-year-old man and only my ACTUAL death will keep me off of coasters! Wood, Steel, sit-down, suspended. Love 'em ALL. The WEIRD part is I hate heights! So, NO FERRIS WHEELS for me. Yeah, the lift hills are "scary" to me, but once the first drop happens, I'm in heaven! At SPEED the higher and steeper the drops the BETTER! Brains are weird!

Kennywood at one time WAS the "roller coaster capital of the world" It has since been LONG AGO surpassed by Cedar Point. STILL, Kennywood's CLASSICS are some to be seen! The "woodies" here NEED to be ridden by anyone who is in to coasters!

FYI, unless a roller coaster actually has "the" in its name, you don't say "the Maverick". As an introvert, I don't need to have other people with me to enjoy a roller coaster.
