Yes, that was John Lennon having a great time in the audience , more animated than I can ever remember seeing him, he always seems so reserved in interviews and performances. very nice to see.

Jagger was never a real heavy drug user..He of course did drugs recreationally, away from performing..I saw him in an interview where he stated that he learned pretty early on that it wasn't a good idea to do drugs, or drink before performing, because it would affect his control..Keith Richards?!..Well, that's a whole other kettle of fish!..Lol!..But really though, Jagger always kept himself in very good shape for his performances.

Yeah this is live from a film they did called The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus. The Who and John Lennon perform in it too. 1968. If they seem and weird and out of it it’s more because they were performing about 3 in the morning more than from being on drugs. They were supposed to go on earlier, but production delays from the other performers caused them to go on early in the morning

Plus, it was I think the third day of the show, and Jagger was one of the organizers, so he didn’t get much sleep. Any drugs he did was probably to stay awake. Considering how wiped-out they must’ve been by then, I think they played a great set.

John Lennon looks more energetic, and enthusiastic than when he was with The Beatles from 1967-1970.
@alphaomega7191
@alphaomega7191 3 жыл бұрын
Well in 1968 and 69 he was suffering from a pretty wicked Heroin issue until he went Cold Turkey in August 1969. His behaviour during that period was even more volatile than normal (he had always been prone to rages). So if you got him on a good day he was the charming funny guy people remember from the early years of the Beatles and on a bad day he was strung out. It's actually the main reason the Beatles broke up because the other three really struggled to deal with him during this time period and George and Paul started thinking about solo stuff whilst Ringo just sort of checked out. By the time he got clean it was too late because the damage to what was left of the bands unity was done. I'm guessing it was a good day in December 68 when this was recorded as he certainly does look happy here.

Yes. This is live. It’s from their long-withheld TV Show the Rollings Stones’ Rock n Roll Circus! If u look close, John n Yoko are in the audience dancing! Everyone is wearing bags. I think it was a brief Bagism stage. Jagger is probably not on many drugs here, relatively speaking. But Brian Jones playing maracas in the background is about gone. He dies soon after. The whole show is great. Most notably The Who for A Quick One!!! And a Supergroup of John Lennon, Eric Clapton, Keith Richard and Jimi Hendrix’s drummer Mitch Mitchell

He was Producer of this TV show so was not on drugs during the shoot. This was shot "as live". The event began at 5pm and the Stones didn't get on stage till 2am. Filmed with hybrid Film/TV cameras imported from France, which kept breaking down, this is the third take of this track from just before 4am (According to the director's commentary on the DVD). They wrapped around 7:40 am leaving the Who, still drinking and happily clearing up the bottles and glasses !

Pretty sure this is live from the Rock and Roll Circus. You should listen to the original studio version sometime. Keith's lead licks on that version kinda sizzle. Much LSD was consumed during this concert. It's right around the time that they're singing this song at the Altamont concert about a year later that the killing by the Hell's Angel happens.

Absolutely And I love all the people saying the studio versions better - they say that about every song from every band I’ll take a shit live performance all day over listening to the studio version over and over. Studio versions are often dozens of takes overdubs cut and paste and all kinds of editing even back in the 60s/70s Live performance is always the creek de la creme And he was not off beat here. He has so much rhythm he’s syncopating rhythms that are clearly misunderstood by the casual listener

Yup, "Let It Bleed" is a great album. I remember being in the first grade and sneaking to hear this song on the radio. My family didn't want me to hear any song that referenced the devil. Great memories with this song. As far as drug usage is concerned---Mick did his share, but he can't hold a candle to lead guitarist Keith Richards. I've heard two different stories regarding Keith's drug escapades, and I think either one could be correct. One story is that Keith Richards accidentally snorted some of his father's ashes when doing a line of cocaine one night. The other story is that Keith rolled some of his father's ashes up in a joint and smoked them. Keith Richards is easily one of rock's top drug abusers. Mick is relatively tame...he just dances wildly!
