Cool. My father retired from his job in 1992 and I am not yet 48. The reason I am not 60+ is that I was born 16 years after their marriage. I had a good time while my parents were around. Things quickly went to a very low grade thereafter.

Great work. @14:00 It seems the person operating the inspection trolley and also giving explanation about token system is Mr. Vishnu who later on became the GM of Central Railways. I remember when the Southern Railway imported EMU trains made by Breda of Italy my Dad was called back from retirement due to a shortage of drivers and he had a blemish less record in 35 years of service with the Southern Railway . I recently found a few black and white photos of these Breda EMU trains being loaded at a port in Italy to be shipped to Madras and Bombay .Look up IRFCA photo gallery and you’ll find these EMU trains that were made by Ernesto Breda . I still remember the name plates in each car Breda Ferroviaria Naples Italy .Just google the IRFCA gallery .

The romance of a steam locomotive trains is something you have to experience. I have sat in steam locomotive trains in UK where steam is still alive and kicking, but never in India. Steam was already in decline by the late 70,s in India and throughout the 80,s there were only a few handful of regular, services remaining. Last broad gauge steam train was in the year 1995 and metre gauge in the year 2000. But these were those rare sporadic locomotives. Basically by the middle of 1980,s steam locomotive trains were almost non existent in major cities and towns of India.

Dear Mr. Larry. Really an illustrative documentary. However, the research has left out eastern ( erly)and south Eastern railway( serly) and chittaranjan locomotive works, India's first indigenous locomotive manufacturing facility in eastern India, that used to manufacture steam locomotives Both these eastern Indias oldest zonal railways, i.e erly and serly, then, when the documentary was filmed had highest concentration of steam locomotives of all classes. Howrah station itself holded sizeable volumes of steam locos of all classes. Lalgola fast passenger services was one of the oldest important steam hauled passenger train on the sealdah division of eastern railways. The passenger rakes were hauled by steam loco till late eighties following which they were taken over by wam1 series electric dc locomotive. I would like to know that is it the ghat section of Western railways, with multiunit steam loco pictured at the rear of the documentary?

Its a very good achievement. Respect and love from Greece! ##What do you think can be the reason that your neighboring countries didn't perform well? India did pretty good job in development considering she is less than 100 years old. Even many African nations(and many previously colonized nations)that got their independence before India don't really seem anywhere near her. But India maintained her dignity well, even though there are always new challenges and I'm quite astonished by this fact. Well done!
@arijitpalit27562 жыл бұрын
@@funkyjunky845 Competent politicians( atleast in initial days after independence) +Indian society has a tendency to look after itself even if authoritarian supervision is not present + I kind of don't agree with considering india less than 100 years old. it's similar to saying there was no existence of greece before independece from ottomans. Indian state at it's current form is young, but the society and the civilisation has been present for thousand of years. Modern states which have a civilisational background tend to perform better, like China, this is partly because these countries always have a unique perspective to judge the world and try to act according to their vision, I am not saying it's always the case, but in case of China and India, new world religions did not change their society and they can take independent decision based on their values that was preserved for many generations. Another point I may add is geography, India is located at the world's busiest trade route that has certainly helped. India also has the largest arable land, so food safety didn't become an issue after we start managing it properly. So, in conclusion good luck and ambition played the part in the success. Although I would say we still have a long way to go.
@funkyjunky8452 жыл бұрын
@@arijitpalit2756 thanks for such a nice explanation, Mr. Arijit Palit! My bad, I forgot that we were one of the oldest and advanced civilizations before the "dark age". We followed the same cultural values that's why we used to accept the outsiders with a deep heart and never tried to judge theirs. I know I went out-of-the context but one of your points reminds me the worst times through which Greeks and Indians went through.
