He doesn’t have a true 49 inch vert. Because of the way trainers and the NBA like to measure standing reach. They allow players to pack their shoulder (not stretch to reach as high as they can) when measuring their standing reach, basically bringing their standing reach down 3-4 inches. This inflates vertical numbers when testing on a vertec. Because of this, we can assume his true standing reach is in the ballpark of around 8’10”-9’0” and not 8’8.75”. Which would bring his vert down to around 45-46 ish at the most. Given the numerous videos of him doing height checks, this would actually seem about right. If he were to have a 49 inch vert he would literally be getting his whole head above the rim. Now that 45-46 measurement is still insane, especially for someone his height, but 49 is an almost unheard of number outside the sport of track and field or pro dunking.

Allegedly. Do you know what that word means? The 49 inch vertical was allegedly because it wasn't recorded officially. Sharpe was measured at the combine but didn't participate in the vertical.

Trust me I know who he is. I wanted my Pacers to draft him at 6 as I’m all about most upside possible! I like Mathurin too (the way Carlisle didn’t start him all year was moronic and lacked big picture forward thinking). It’s why I was higher on Bilal, Whitmore, Hendricks, Cason Wallace, JHS, then Jarace Walker for my Pacers at 7. I feel like they have higher UPSIDE which is what is best to do in small market teams who will never get the best FAs. Later 1st round diff story, but in lottery give me the highest ceiling!

How’s his defensive game? I haven’t seen many Portland games this season.

He’s pretty solid on defense as he’s really been gettin more acclimated to playin in the league. Im a blazers fan for life and to me i see Shaedon’s ceiling being like PG if thats not too hard to believe. He’s 6’5 with a 7ft wingspan so he has the frame to be an elite defender, just gotta put in the work and hustle
