I think one of the reasons why your animatics get so much love is not only the fact that your art style is fantastic and the way that you capture the moments feels exactly like what you'd think it would be realistically but the fact that they're so clean cut. Most animatics have just the idea of the subject in it but yours captures that much more. This is best animatic for Hamilton I have seen yet. The charming art style, the constant, fluid changes in scene, and most notably the wonderful display of character- especially for Burr. My favorite moments: Burr holding smol Hamilton, Madison, and Jefferson, both "click boom"'s, and the "if you stand for nothing Burr, what will you fall for" showing the shadowy, towering, taunting faces of the revolutionaries. I can give you a tiny bit of insight. Vice President Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton were kind of frenemies, mostly enemies because Aaron Burr felt like Hamilton was always succeeding and getting what he wanted, but Hamilton also disagreed with Burr and blocked him from getting what HE wanted (including becoming president and becoming governor of New York), so Burr kind of hated Hamilton for that. So, Hamilton made an agreement with Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. Jefferson and Madison wanted the capital of the US to be the District of Columbia. Congress was fighting over the location but couldn't agree on it. Hamilton agreed to move the capital from New York (Burr's state of course) to DC in exchange for them to create national banks, more or less. He wanted national banks so every state could benefit from every other state's economy and work as a nation to pay off all debts. Long story short, Burr was pissed that they decided to put the capital in DC and Hamilton got his banks. So in this song it's the meeting between Hamilton, Jefferson and Madison and Burr being pissed they made the decision and he had no say in it.

i dont really have a reference, so ill try to explain xD i animated the line into a "swirl" shape, and then on each frame i rotated the swirl a little by little. then, i just.. made it get bigger and made it door-shaped? wow that was not a good explanation lol. well.. idk if this works on all computers, but if you pause this video and use the , and . keys, you can see each individual frame to get a better idea of what i did :]

THIS IS INTENSE LIKE SUPER INTENSE I love how it starts out with Alexander being surrounded in pitch black because of what happened in Say No to This, and then he's just startled into reality. And how Burr is slowly descending into insanity in this until he finally realizes what he desires - to be in the room. I love that shot with Laurens, Lafayette and Mulligan towering over him - it shows just how much that phrase intimidates him, and scares him, because he doesn't know. He doesn't know. Until he does - and he will do whatever it takes to get there. I love every part of this. Well done, my friend.

Things I appreciate/love about this animatic: - Hamilton lookin' like he walked straight outta "Say No To This" at the beginning. - Burr being portrayed as "left in the dark" buy keeping him the shadows/having him shaded darker than the other characters - The Hamilton, Madison, and Jefferson in Burr's hands at 1:00 - Characters involved with the political affairs having light shed on them to show how "in the know" they are. -Character's depicted with gray to show when things are happening in the dark/behind the scenes. - 2:30-2:35 All of it. - What the letter says at 2:39 -Burr at 2:53 -3:14 Burr's apparent "spark" to be in the room. -3:32 hamilton's face -Hamilton on a swivel chair -3:59 Burr being seemingly overwhelmed by his peers to speak his mind. - 4:12 onward, Burr hopelessly chasing after the doors, being just out of reach. -"click boom!" -All of the animatic.

Because he IS. "Now I'm the villain in your history," he says at the end. They set the whole final duel up perfectly in the show, pretty much setting the two up as rivals, with Hamilton winning pretty much everything Burr thought should be his. How many doors slam in Burr's face in this musical because of Hamilton? 1) Washington tells Burr to close the door on his way out as he decides to take Hamilton as his aide-de-camp, 2) He's not "in the room where it happens" for the Great Compromise, 3) Hamilton promotes Jefferson over Burr in the election of 1800, and Jefferson cuts him out. Overall, the musical took a page out of Jesus Christ Superstar's book and made the "villain" of the story into the narrator, lending a far more fascinating angle on the life of the protagonist then there would be if we had a more conventional narrator.

Wow, after 6 years this is still my favorite animatic for this song. There's so much creativity in the scenes, tightness of rhythm, and the emotions are captured perfectly. When comparing the animatics, I always skip to that climax between about 3:35 and 4:05. Yours is spotless. Just completely perfect from Hamilton's villainous/imposing aura to the way Burr is forced into a corner. Thanks again for releasing this! You're so talented
