_Aqidah Nasafiyya_, which is a book outlining the basic Islamic creed written by Imam Nasafi from Samarkand, Persia in the 11th century. Here's a translation of a commentary on Imam Nasafi's book by Sa'ad ad-Din al-Taftazani: archive.org/details/ACommentaryOnTheCreedOfIslamSadAl-dinAl-taftazaniOnTheCreedOfNajm

Wonderful, illuminating, and what seems to be missing from scholarship these days: faith, sincerity and wisdom.

Assalaamu alaikom. Shaykh Hamza Yusuf, I don't know if you read the comments or have staff who do it for you at all, but I pray this night, June 15, 2017 that Allah bless you, forgive you, and hold a high place for you in jannah. Ameen. This lecture, The Roots of Our Crisis, is so important in this time. It is a process of actualization for the masses that needs to take place about cause/effect - how not doing what's right now out of convenience or economic decisions can be so catastrophic for such a long time. This I can apply to the global situations, but I can also apply this personally. I have wanted to speak with you since an event at Yale - but since just now viewing this recording, by Allah, you have lifted something heavy from my spirit. I have not explored my own intellect for years because of this weight which involves SURVIVAL on many levels. Being in the state of survival is all consuming. Though I reverted over 6 years ago, I still have struggles with memorization, social intelligence, emotional intelligence, self expression (etc). So I had many questions for you in hopes of finding some understanding of myself, to begin (again and again) peeling back the layers of inhibition to reach out and grasp those moments of creative inspiration, or dedication to study, or satisfy the traveling jones. It's been a good time of head-space introspect. You said some things at the lecture at Yale that struck home with me and though my vocabulary isn't very expansive, I am inspired to grow when I listen to you. As a mild TBI survivor (among the lot of survival stories) - the psychological damage is supposedly the only hurdle I have (from the TBI) and has haunted me for over 30 years. Thanks for cracking the shell. JazakaAllah khayr. ameen. So thanks a million. May Allah continue to guide us and bring peace to this world, Ameen.

Ameen I know your comment was directed at the Sheikh, but I'd like to offer my experiences and insights since I reverted (2013) in case they may be of help to you. In regards to social inhibition. What I discovered was the more you devote yourself to God, the less focused you become on yourself and the more liberation you feel to do what you want (halal of course), without hesitation, without fear. To grab every opportunity without a care in the world about what our fellow creatures might think. Ghandi said happiness is when; what you think, what you say and what you do are in Harmony.... I've felt that. I've been there, for a while. I say liberation, and not self-confidence, because it wasn't confidence from within. It was liberation from without. It was being totally free from the concerns of what others think, to being totally devoted to the concerns of what God thinks. It was total liberation from this lower world. I've heard it said that there's no such thing as freedom. That we're all enslaved to something: Be it money, society, fashion, our peers, our partners, our children, or... OR... God Almighty. Umar said: “There is no relationship between Allaah and anyone except through obedience to Him.". While I don't think this is meant to be understood in a definitive sense, I do understand, I think, where he was coming from. If you want to experience freedom from psychologically based social inhibition that prevents you from "seizing the moment", do what I did. Analyze your life and cut out everything that you think even just might be displeasing to God. You have to be honest to yourself. It requires sacrifice, but what you gain is immeasurable. I hope I can someday return to the state I used to be in. A state of total obedience, which leads honestly to euphoria and complete worldly liberation. What ever has happened to you, all you need to do is be a Muslim. One who submits to the decree of God. Someone who acknowledges that God is the master and that we are literally His belongings and that He can do as He likes, thankfully the Lord is just, kind and loving. Be one who accepts whatever has happened them. Just accept it and try to move on.

22:40 What about the Siyasatnama by Nizam ul-Mulk (or Nishapuri) during the Seljuk period? Wasn't it kind of Machiavellian?

How wonderful it would be if an all-faith Meditation/Prayer Hall, based on space and/or time sharing, is made available to all: Christians, Muslims, Jews, Hindus, Sikhs, Budhists, Atheists and others.

This is interesting, yet we are told to debate them with that which is better..i.e. Quran. Time spent studying anything else is well if one has already finished studying Quran, not memorizing it necessarily.
