When I was a kid back in the early 60s, my mom had several vinyl albums from Pee Wee King, Bob Wills, Cowboy Copas, and Marty Robbins. Wish I had those today!

I was overjoyed to finally get to see a "Durango Kid" movie with NO TWISTIES to ruin it! Further, I'm happy to be your fifth "thumbs up" for this posting. Thanks heaps Tone, you are a hero.

Charles Starrett was the best Western star

Mr. Sebnup, I enjoyed this movie as well! I'm sixty years old and since I was a kid I loved watching old Western movies the 1930's, 1940's, 1950's and some 1960'sand some 1970's and 1980's. Nowdays they don't make that many Western movies and in my opinion there's only a handful of Western movies worth watching including Dances with Wolves, The Sacketts and Silverado and the remake of the Magnificent Seven. And today's generation I feel they don't enjoy a good Western movie like the the generation of thirty or forty and fifty, sixty years ago! Thank you.

The Durango Kid movies bring back memories of my childhood in Tampa, Fl. There was a movie house that showed a Durango Kid movie every Saturday. So, I probably saw just about every one of them! Loved the many C /W groups that were always featured in the film, plus of course Smiley Burnette, he was a real treat to see!

These pictures just wouldn't be the same without the talented Smiley Burnette. Perhaps his comedy seems juvenile today, but these films were made primarily for younger, matinee audiences. However, his musical numbers and the rest of the film were entertaining for all ages. Please note: Durango never has a romantic interlude like Autry often did. This must have had the approval of boys who didn't like that "mushy stuff". 😉

Good movie. Bit stretched out, but none the less a good movie, with a few laughs.

San Francisco had an opera house in the 1850s IIRC. Remember that almost all those Westerners came from somewhere else.
