Wonderful.London without the Routemaster is not London.Ah,but then,we're supposed to call London an "international city" now aren't we?The Routemaster belongs to a time when London was British and being British meant making things. Time for a good documentary on the classic Austin black cab.

Not one mention of the fifty purchased new by Northern General Transport?, the only operator to do so. The one been been broken up (the RMF version) could quite possibly be one of the fifty.

if you are working for the company, you will say good things about that company. If you are the competitor you will naturally say negative things

Cannibalisation. Yeah, very true, still commonplace throughout the industry, and no doubt, will continue as operators make use of what spares they can using 'so - called' viable parts from life - expired PSVs. Sometimes re - use is a vlid option, but in the long - term it constitutes little more than a means to making savings on engineering costs......then again I would agree to differ, used/re - conditioned parts are largely without, as a rule, any guarantee, of being viable in the longer - term, so as was said here, cannibalisation is a false economy. Then again, with older fleets the availability of parts begins to diminish, so alternatives need to be sought. However, lets face it, the RMs were rebuilt, re-engined and re - wired on a number of occasions that the need for older parts wasn't always necessary......often wonder why operators persists on prolonging the lworking life of older vehicles.......false economy.
