I was in junior high at the time. I agree with you. Her dress is really pretty! I really like it. I have to say, that even though its a 70's dress, it's WAY prettier than Megan Markle's Puritain frock. What surprised me was that she didn't have a veil over her face, like all the other royal brides have except for Prince Andrew's daughter who got married a few months ago. I thought that was tradition. Oh, well, doesn't matter. Lovely dress, lovely veil, lovely tiara, lovely bouquet and beautiful bride.

We were given the day off school too and Mrs Hewit our teacher told us all to watch it! Alas my father was not a royal fan so I didn’t watch it lol. Glad you tube has it 😂 she was beautiful though

"Who giveth this woman to be married to this man"... I'm still baffled this tradition actually existed. The father literally handing the woman over to the husband, so that she at no point is independent (though we know that Anne was, and is, thank god).

Refused this as the Dutch don't say that! Married a Welshman and was shocked they wanted me to say those words, so changed them . Big uproar so I said registry office or my words. I won hahaha

@@catharinawilliams1828 Good for you!! I don't think they've ever said it here in Norway either. Neither the "obey" nor the "Who giveth.." That's partly why it seems so shocking, I guess. The father does often "give the bride away" by walking her up the aisle, but we're used to that, so that doesn't bother us that much lol :)

I was named for Anne. I'm so glad I was given just half of it. My family still calls me Anne Elizabeth...all as one name.. I always felt like it was a lot of a name, I'm glad mom didn't add the Alice Louise to it...🤪🙄

@@PuffKitty Thank you Kelly. My 83 yo Aunt Retha (dad's sister) and I went (down home) to cousin LaVelta to celebrate her 90th birthday last week. It was such a joy to hear my full name said by my family. Mom would never allow "Annie" or any such nonsense. Took me awhile to appreciate my name, but it is pretty special to me. I wish you safety and good health. Be well in these strange times.🌾🙋
