The Decepticons blew it up as everyone escaped from it. So Ironhide and the others were never coming back. The Episode ended with Optimus Prime dying again. They had to retcon it as it poured waaay too much salt in the wounds for young fans. Prime was then saved from the explosions that destroyed his ship instead and revived in the return of Optimus Prime.
